Watch Tinder Swindler on Netflix. It's about a guy on the dating app Tinder who gets women to fall in love with him and swindles them out of millions of dollars, using the same blueprint shtick with each woman. It's a documentary with extensive video and audio recordings of the Tinder Swindler.

That guy must have some serious persuasion skills to continually scam many women.

Just finished binging on the Expanse, about a future where humans have dispersed through the solar system and now form 3 factions: Earth, Mars and the Belters. A discovery of an alien substance shifts the balance of power and all manner of bloodshed/intrigue ensues. It was cancelled in Season 3 but got picked up by Jeff Bezos (yes, the man himself) since he liked it so much. Then went on for another 3 seasons, which just ended recently. One of the key features that I love about it is how it rigorously sticks to real world constraints - ships don't have shields, they can't change direction/decelerate with no consequence, there's a delay in communications across immense distance, etc.

I'm also really impressed how the writers effectively fold in strong female characters into the plot, without any pandering. Here's one of my favorite characters in the series being SAVAGE:

Special mention for Cara Gee - she impressed the show runners so much that they made her a regular on the series. Her portrayal of Drummer deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as icons like Sarah Connor or Ripley. I won't be surprised if she shows up across A-listers in the next few years. She's just that good.

Although I have heard Hulu is unavailable in Canada (unless using a VPN), I am going to recommend for all other posters the Hulu series "Dropout", about the Elizabeth Holmes/Theranos scam and fraud which saw many millions of dollars invested in fantasy technology based on the notion that a few droplets of blood could be tested by Theranos diagnostic machines. The series is very faithful to the actually history of events and features Amanda Seyfried's excellent performance as the committed CEO Elizabeth Holmes, who begins to passionately believe her own lies very early on, and then fools people into joining the Theranos fraud train with that passion, including Theranos board members George Schultz and Henry Kissinger, who are both duped into joining. Perhaps the biggest dupes/morons exposed in the series is the Walgreens CEO and his right hand man, who are portrayed as complete imbeciles that are totally played and manipulated by Holmes into sinking many hundreds of millions of dollars into the fantasyland technology.

I have watched the first 5 of 8 episodes. Episode 6 releases today, and 7 and 8 the next 2 Thursdays. I think a Golden Globe Award awaits Amanda Seyfried for her work in the series, which is amazing.

Star Trek Picard Season 2
Halo
I thought season 1 was poorly written and a bit of a disappointment. But Picard season 2 has been actually pretty good! We'll see if they can keep it up for the rest of the season.

I still have to watch the premiere for Halo. Reviews have been lukewarm and trailers have been so-so, so my expectations are low, lol.

Picard Season 2 is awesome much better than the mess that is Season 1. Plus much better camera work and it feels like you are watching a movie.

Halo is pretty good as well the CGI is kind of meh. Issue is that the director never read up on digged into Halo lore too deeply. I never played the game and just read up on the story/lore and saw some youtube cut scenes and I was floored by the whole story.

Watched episodes 6 and 7 which are fascinating. Episode 6 focused on the backstories of all the whistleblowers including the 2 key whistleblowers, Tyler Schultz, George Schultz's grandson, and his friend Elizabeth Cheung. It also shows how and why they blow the whistle. Tyler actually goes to Grandpa George about the fraudulent activities at Theranos, but George tells Tyler he is full of Kaka (reportedly Real life George Schultz later apologized to Tyler).

Episode 7 focuses on the harassment of the whistleblowers and the Wall Street Journal writer John Carreyou by Theranos's legal team which includes the legendary David Boies, infamous as the attorney for Harvey Weinstein and others. The whistleblowers and Carreyou are threatened and stalked and placed under severe pressure and stress.

Elizabeth Holmes is scheduled to be sentenced in September 2022 for her crimes and faces up to 20 years in federal prison. By the end of the series you really want to see her rot in prison. She is and was simply someone who believed her own lies- even found them to be profound.

Right now, this is my favorite show on TV at the moment... It's a spinoff from my other favorite show, Power.
Wow, another Power fan!

Yeah, I actually got into this when they had a "free" promotion for Starz online for the first season of the original show. I liked it so much that I subscribed for the rest of the seasons, and then followed with the spin off series' sfterwards.

Of course, the original series was the best. I enjoyed the first two spin-offs, but "Ghost" was maybe a bit better. Raising Kanan was really good though.

This new spin-off "Force" is great, since Tommy was always my favorite character in the whole franchise. We'll see if it follows through with the season finale.

I'm a die hard fan of Power, the original show too!

Jamie "Ghost" was one of my favorite characters.
