Popular Mtl sports media personality Tony Marinaro was on a tear this morning on his great radio show blasting the habs for giving away Nikita Scherbak and not being more patient with him. He raised some very valid points. There were other non-producing players such as Nicholas Deslauriers which could have been waived instead. He wondered if being french-canadian isn't Deslauriers' only prerequiste to be on the team. Deslauriers will soon be 28 while Scherbak is only 22. Scherbak may lack intensity but he's gifted offensively while Deslauriers currently has only 1 goal and 1 assist in twenty-some games.

Marinaro pointed out that the habs have a lot of trouble scorings so why give up on a very young, offensively-gifted player? Tony also pointed out that the habs were supposed to get younger and rebuild yet they recently gave up the likes of Jacob DelaRose and now Scherbak. It doesn't make any sense. Waiving Tomas Plekanec made sense due to his age. But why give up on two youngsters while hanging on to a plugger like Deslauriers??

He's very confused about the decisions management has been making and he's not alone.

Drouin and Domi are really good so far this season. I have been surprised by Domi. My friends were mad at the Chucky-Domi trade during the summer but its really looking solid at this moment.

Guys, if you are going to do an analysis, do it based on facts, not by saying someone "looks solid at the moment".

Domi: 30 points in 28 games
Galchenyuk: 10 points in 19 games.

Those facts say that Montreal got the better of this trade by a lot. Coyotes are still using Galchenyuk as a center.

Oui exactement Gaby. Yes EB your right, the stats are smilling on the Habs big time. I dont think Domi will keep up this 1ppg rate but i think he can hit 65pts if healthy this season.

Gaby,

Chicago has 23 points which is tied for last in the NHL. Things have not gotten better since they fired Joel Quenneville - they have been in a free fall. One can’t get too excited about such a win.

Montreal at the moment holds the second wild card after Boston, 4 points above the Rangers. Let’s see them beat some playoff teams instead of picking on the Senators and Blackhawks. These are games that should be wins. Beat the Leafs and the Bolts.

EB in this league any team can beat any other team on any giving day. Yes Chicago sucks this year but the thing is they are a far better team then their current ranking. I do not think the Habs, or any team in the NHL, play to prove they can beat big teams. They play to win enough game to make the playoff.
