Ouff, difficult loss for the Habs last night against the Ducks. They will have to step up their game over the next 3 weeks if they want to make the playoffs...

Oh que oui.....oh tiboboy i went to bed it was 2-1 Ducks and i just saw they lost 8-2-----it hurts....se sont vraiment tiré dans le pied.....Columbus qui joue ce soir est toujours à seulement 2 pts avec 2 games en main...et sont dus pour connaître des victoires....les Habs se retrouvent maintenant dans une situation très précaire par leur faute.

Don't get your hopes up. As i've been saying since day 1 the habs will not make the playoffs and will likely end up picking a middle first round player in the draft. This was the year to tank and not go out of your way to make the playoffs. And even if there's a slim chance they do make the playoffs they'll end up getting spanked & sent golfing early by Tampa.

Yes indeed the habs won the other night. It was an important win. But it was against lowly Detroit and the habs got dominated. They would have lost had any other goaltender other than Carey Price been between the pipes. This isn't reassuring. But a win's a win.

Habs very likely will not make the playoffs and probably will even be surpassed by the Philadelphia Flyers. That's the sad truth of the matter. Meanwhile Patch will enjoy a deep playoffs run and who knows: even Chuckie may end up in the playoffs. Arizona is playing very good hockey and are currently in a playoffs position. But the habs? Right where i predicted early in the season. Out of the playoffs & with no chance for a great first-round pick at the upcoming draft.

It's over, Gaby. You better hope that other teams such as the Flyers end up passing the habs in the standings.

Too many missed opportunities over the past few weeks. Every single point counts & the habs missed out on too many of them.

Yep Doc you are right on....dommage....quand même toujours le fun de voir les Habs en séries....mais semble bien qu'on va passer notre tour cette année et peut-être fort probablement encore quelques années...loin d'être certain qu'on est dans la bonne direction......my 2 cents.

Really difficult loss by the Habs last night. They really exceeded expectations this season but they seem tired. As Doc and Gaby said, at this point a better draft position might be whats best...

The only Canadian teams with any hope are Calgary and Winnipeg. The Canadiens simply aren't good enough. The Leafs are a little better but Freddy is weakening down the stretch and their defence is nowhere near good enough. If they had a better coach (say Trotz or Quenneville) it would help but they're stuck with the overrated Babcock for a few more years.

The elite teams are Tampa Bay and Boston which both have everything you need. San Jose is possible but they better do it this year if they're ever going to. You can never count out Crosby or Ovechkin so Pittsburgh and Washington are also possibles.

Boston has struggled lately. Tampa Bay is beatable. The Leafs' defence currently hasn't played well but two of their top 4 defencemen (Jake Gardiner & Travis Dermott) have been out with injuries. Instead of having a top 6 of Rielly, Muzzin, Gardiner, Dermott, Hainsey & Zaitsev they're stuck with a top 6 of Rielly, Muzzin, Hainsey, Zaitsev, Ozhiganov & Marincin.

More of the same for Montreal and Toronto on Saturday night: To their credit the Canadiens had 48 shots...but NO goals. Great goaltending by Corey Crawford but it's still a comment on a team's lack of firepower if they try 48 times and succeed zero times.

Meanwhile for the third time in their last 4 games the Leafs allowed 6 goals, this time to the lowly Senators who recently got rid of almost all their scorers! In the only game in which they didn't allow 6 goals, the Leafs allowed 5. That's 23 goals against in their last 4 games. As Seinfeld's Soup Nazi might say: No Cup for you! I wonder if Shanny is looking for Joel Quenneville's phone number?

Boston however notched another 2 points with an OT win. Brad Marchand might be the most hated player in the NHL but he's also a pretty damn good player. He and the undeniably great Patrice Bergeron make perhaps the best duo in the League.

And Ovi? Up to 48 now. You know what? I'm beginning to think the guy knows how to score goals.

Oui le manque d'opportunisme---ou de talent---- va avoir coûté cher et une place dans les séries aux Habs......incroyable qu'avec 48 tirs aucun but....et ce n'est pas la première fois .....Bergevin peut se préparer à un été chaud!!!!

Back-to-back games are very hard on a team at this point into the season. Toronto's loss against the Sens didn't surprise me. Plus the fact Garrett Sparks was between the pipes. He sucks!

Toronto will not win the Cup. Tampa & Boston are too strong meaning the Leafs likely won't come out of the East. The offense is great but the defence remains questionable even with Jake Gardiner & Travis Dermott in the lineup.

Many are second-guessing Babcock these days but second-guessing a coach comes with the job. Even Toe Blake & Scotty Bowman got second-guessed at various times in their great careers. And with Babcock's big contract he won't be going anywhere for at least another two or three years. He signed an 8-year/$50 million contract nearly 4 years ago.

Kyle Dubas made several great moves since he became Leafs GM. But he made one big mistake: choosing Garrett Sparks as the backup instead of Curtis Mclhinney. But he wasn't alone in sharing the blame. I also believed it was the move to make since Sparks was younger & had just been named as the AHL's top goaltender. Who knows maybe we'll all be proven wrong in the future & Sparks may one day develop into a top NHL goalie. But this season his presence has hurt the team.

I also agree that Brad Marchand is one heck of a great player. And just because of him i'll pick the Bruins for beating the Leafs in the upcoming playoffs. Marchand is a great talent and a difference-maker.

As for the habs getting 48 shots on net it doesn't mean much if most of the shots were easy to stop. Heck last night a garage league goalie could have made most of these stops!
