Playoff's game.:fat:..and KOVI rides again .....quelle belle acquisition....PRICE a fait le travail durant les 2 premières périodes et par la suite les HABS ont dominé avec 16 tirs vs 1........i like what i saw from CAMPBELL.....mine de rien les HABS sont 9 en 12.

As i predicted the other day the Leafs ran out of gas in the third period since once again they were playing back-to-back games against the habs. This was their fourth consecutive back-to-back game against the rested habs. The league's schedule maker doesn't seem to like them too much. Ironic that Carey Price didn't make a single save in the third period yet still managed to pull out a win. Nylander missed the game due to the flu & his presence was greatly missed, he being one of the top Leafs players this season.

Yesterday i decided to watch the Marlies/Rocket game, a game easily won by the Marlies. I must admit that i was surprised at the lack of talent on the Laval team. KK was very ordinary & lost most of his faceoffs. Poeling was okay but obviously not NHL ready. To be honest none of the players on that team other than maybe Cale Fleury looked like they belonged in the NHL. Kincaid was between the pipes for Laval and had me surprised he even made it to the NHL.

This led me to think that the habs would be better off trading many of their players in return for draft picks & prospects in order to build up their farm team. But the problem with this is that the habs are now winning again & giving the team & its fans hopes of squeezing into the playoffs. If they trade too many of their top players in two weeks then their hopes of making the playoffs will be dashed.

Kovalchuk scored a big goal for the habs saturday night & he's probably the fans' favorite player. The team is playing much better hockey since his arrival and the team may feel like the fans will turn on them if he's traded at the trade deadline. The best thing for the organization as a whole would be to trade him but fan & media pressure may force them to hold onto him.

Habs lose 3-2

Very tough loss for the habs tonight when the lowly Coyotes came back with 3 consecutive goals in beating the hometown Montreal Canadiens by a score of 3-2. What made it even worse for les glorieux is that the game-winning goal came with a minute left to go in regulation, meaning that the habs were a minute away from being guaranteed a point in this crucial game.

C'est fini, folks! Goodbye playoffs!

Look on the bright side. Now maybe it'll give Bergevin the excuse he needs to start moving out players in order to get back picks & prospects to continue building for the future. The team's current winning streak was starting to put things on old and giving the team & fans false hopes of making the playoffs.

And yes if they can get something of considerable value for Kovalchuk they have to move him. And then they can re-sign him once the season is over. But they'll be in for quite a disappointment if they think he'll come cheap. His confidence is back & he now firmly believes he still has a lot left in the tank.

Note: If i'm the GM everyone in the entire organization other than Suzuki & Romanov is available.

Weber possibly out for rest of the season

We're learning this morning that Shea Weber's return is up in the air due to a setback in regards to his undisclosed 'lower body injury' and his return has yet to be determined. He was supposed to be out for only a week. It wouldn't surprise me if he needs to undergo surgery for the undislosed ailment. Weber has missed a lot of games since his arrival in Montreal. On average he misses between 20-30 games per season. Trade him!!!!

In other news #1 centre Philip Danault is out indefinitely after leaving the game early last night after being hit in the face by a shot. He's lot several teeth and will require more dental work. Did his jaw suffer any damage? The team won't say (as usual).

Marc Bergevin will have to show a brave face & start trading his productive players since their value will never be better than it is now. If Jason Zucker & his very-average points totals can fetch a first-rounder from Pittsburgh then there's no reason why Bergevin can't get the same value for the likes of Tomas Tatar & Jeff Petry, among others. The habs have a history of rarely gambling & holding on too long for veteran 'productive' players. Trade them now!

Byron out for tonight's game against the Bruins. The Bruins will come out in force after losing to lowly Detroit in their last game, the second time this has happened this season.

This is a must win for the habs. I wouldn't be surprised if the habs prevailed tonight.

Shea Weber’s injury possibly career-ending

Just hearing that Weber’s injury is to the foot he had surgically-repaired a year ago and that it could put an end to his playing career. What’s even worse is that he still has 6 years left to go on his big contract and this would still count against the team’s cap.

We’ll likely hear more details in the coming days.

Habs lose again in Boston and playoffs picture looks bleaker

They got manhandled last night in Boston. Poor Brendan Gallagher. He just came back from a concussion and then got crosschecked in the face by Zdeno Chara. Yet no one comes to his defence & worse part he also gets a 2 minute penalty in the process. The reason no one came to his defence is that there's no one on the team willing and able to take on Chara. Personally i thought giving Gallagher a coinciding minor was ridiculous. Trailing by a goal and on the powerplay the habs should have had a 2-man powerplay. But the referee saw it differently.

We also learned prior to the game that Shea Weber is expected to lose 6-8 weeks due to a left ankle injury. But if you look at how these type of news have been reported by the team in the past it wouldn't totally surprise me if Weber misses the entire season and possibly more.

Habs, time to sell ? Time for a management review !

I think the reality of this season and making the playoffs has hit most fans in the face now. I believe it's time for Bergevin to do what he can to unload several players now to obtain whatever he can in the way of draft picks and tank for the rest of this season in the hope of a possible high pick.
I also believe that it's time for Geoff Molson to re-evaluate this team going forward. The President of hockey operations should not be Geoff Molson ! Hire a hockey guy and let him make the decisions as to the GM and coach , who, how long and when to fire them. 27 years since the last Stanley cup, enough and Marc Bergevin is not going to get this team there anytime soon.

Petry : Keep him, what will you get back that's better than him, and he has a year left on his contract.

Tatar : Keep him, this team needs scoring and he has proven that he can score and he also has another year left.

Kovalchuk : An exciting player, still. The fans love him, he's having fun and if he can be resigned for another year at 1 or 1.5 million with bonuses built in, why not a lot of the young players can learn fro him .

Re-evaluation is in order and this team needs to look at everything from top management down. They have become an embarrassment !

Habs sure got manhandled...another beating at the hands of the Bruins!...same old same old!!!!...Habs been getting their heads bashed in by the Big Bad Bruins since 1978!

Jonathan KO's and makes a mess of Bouchard's face...Lucic clobbers Komisarek and taunts the Habs bench after the knockdown...Chara pastes Pacioretty over the boards and into the pole/turnbuckle and sends him to the MGH...McLaren destroys Zednik with a WWF stiff arm to the head!...lights out!!! sweet dreams!!!

Shark the bruins beating the habs (without stupid violent punch like the one you stated) is very recent. Over the years the Habs have crunch the Bruins winning far more games and far more series despite very often being rank lower seeded. Right now the Bruins have a great team thanks to Bergeron's leadership. A future hall of fame. Just a shame he played for the Bruins but let's give him credit. The only thing I am not happy about him is he stayed silent went Chara knock out Pacioretty in a stupid hit when himself nearly ended his career in 2007 with that crazy from behind hit from Randy Jones. If those kind of hit please you call Marc Savard how he thinks about the hit Matt Cooke did to end his career.

Until Price showed up.

No wander the Bruins are good when their backup goalie is better then Montreal so called "Best In The World" No 1 goalie.

That is so true... The Bruins took over timely when Price showed up in Montreal. Still if the Habs could score a few goals it would greatly help. They have not done so in years!

Just for Fun How many player are in current NHL Roster were drafted by the Montreal Canadiens? I`ll give you an hint there are not enough to have a full roster . A second Hint Columbus have 18 player on their Roster coming from their Draft. This is more than actual Montreal drafted over all NHL
