Wouldn’t be shocked if Laine is done for the year.
I’d estimate his chances of playing hockey this season to be about 20%. And 50/50 that he’ll ever play a regular season game with the habs even if the expected knee surgery occurs. He’s a fragile player mentally & i’m not sure he has the motivation to return to NHL hockey if he does have to undergo major knee reconstruction & the long rehabilitation process which follows.
On the bright side if there is one the habs are not expected to be in the playoffs anyway so his loss won’t hurt as much like if they’d be a contending team. But it’s extremely unfortunate for the fan base. I feel the fans would have fell in love with him like they fell for Kovalev. However maybe by miracle his injury wasn’t as severe as it looked & he could be back this season. But i wouldn’t put money on this happening.
