Phil Esposito was an animal! Not the biggest player but strong as a horse. Extremely skilled for his time, in the 1970-71 season he scored 76 goals and added 76 assists in a 78 game season!

Team USA's Hutson struck by puck, out of hospital
Cole Hutson was briefly hospitalized after a puck appeared to strike him near the back of his helmet during Saturday's World Juniors game against Switzerland.
Cette fois, il a été très bon. Un peu fait la grimace après le deuxième mais bon…il y a eu plusieurs buts semblables dans la ligue cette année.
Une fin de match comme on a vu souvent cet automne.
Caufield encore avec ce maniment de bâton qui fait ouvrir les jambes des gardiens avant de scorer (c’est quasiment sexuel faut croire…)
Un Suzuki clutch comme on a été habitué.
Slaf a été un peu moins dominant mais aussi rapide mais je crois que les coachs des Panthers ont passé le mot pour que les joueurs le marque. Ce qui est normal.
All in all a pretty good game for the Habs.
Fin de match excitante en tout cas! Passer de 0-2 avec 4 minutes à jouer et gagner 3-2 en OT, ça donne un petit sourire.
Esposito was strong but all the work was done by Orr, Cashman and Hodge. Esposito parked his big ass in front of the net and shot !

Chris Kreider kind of reminds me of him. Most of his goals are scored the way Phil scored his. By parking himself in front of the net.
Phil wasn’t the quickest skater but he had great hands & had great leadership qualities as witnessed in the 72 Summit series. It’s no coincidence that the Rangers reached the finals in 79 right after they acquired the veteran.
If you look at Esposito's stats with the Rangers he was still a point a game player despite not having Orr and Hodge and Cashman surrounding him.
I read his book Thunder and Lightning and it was quite entertaining. In it he discusses tenure as Rangers GM and heavily criticizes former Rangers coach Michel Bergeron. He accuses Bergeron of heavily favoring French speaking players over Anglos. A few of whom he acquired at Bergeron's insistence and they proved to be shot. He also criticized Bergeron for stabbing him in the back in the media, which is ultimately why Espo fired Bergeron. These are very pointed and scathing criticisms and really over the top. He straight out hammers Bergeron in that book and makes him out to be a total asshole.
He also discusses rather proudly his role in founding the Tampa Bay Lightning. He has lived in Tampa Bay since founding the team and is still an TV announcer for the team.

I can say its nothing surprising to me. Bergeron always appears to me as the most hypocrite person in the NHL business, he always choses to point fingers than taking responsibilities for his failures, not a sign of true leadership.
Getting shutout by a goalie who is 57th in the NHL with a .874 save % is not what you want. But these crappy road performances happen to all teams.
Bennington was a beast..was a good game. Not dissapointed. Losses happen.
Really good win for Montreal today at Dallas. Montembault was back in goal after his "conditioning assignment", was mediocre but got the win thanks to OT goal by Hutson and first Star won by Slafkovsky.
Hard to quantify, but the chemistry is real. Confidence spreads shift to shift, and the whole team plays bigger because of it. Love seeing Danault find his place so quickly. Even other fans and coaches are pointing out how fun it is watching these kids grow together for a while, but you can really feel it. Can't even think of a player I dislike... GHG!

Don't you remember that Bennington won against the USA team in the 4 NATIONS Tournament ?
If we had to be shutdown by a goalie, i prefer it to be Bennington! Team Canada goalie, and we have a title to defend.
Kind of jack in the box. I think Habs got some favours from Bussi (Canes goalie), Bennington got it all back…
