Regardless of the kid’s shutout, I have to admit, Matheson is a real workhorse, after missing 2 games he comes back and play nearly 27 solid minutes! He may not be in the race for the Norris but, he is the Habs MVP day in day out.

When we got Matheson from Pittsburgh for Jeff Petry, who wanted to leave, i didn't even know him. I certainly didn't expect the guy to have such an important role 4 years later.

Local guy, workhorse, just signed below market to stay here, plus seems like a good teammate and mentor. Another good trade by Hugues.

Seriously I don’t think Hugues was expecting that much of a package when he did the trade. For sure he knew how talented Matheson could be but, at that level? With his capacity to burn +25 minutes every single game? I don’t think Hugues ever dream of this, and now, at $6M a year, its the icing on the cake!

Matheson is showing everybody what a local player, who is willing to be playing at home, can bring to the table when the stars align! The guy must be one of NHL’s top firness freak!

Matheson was a 1st round draft pick back in 2012 and has been a solid player in the NHL for a long time (11 years). You expect defensemen to age well and get better and he has. I personally think 26:48 ice time last night- team high by a lot- is too much. You have to be careful not to wear his ass down.

Did you mean the Boston Goons ?
That's what they looked like. Same as in the 1970s. Except for Bobby Orr that I saw play in the old Forum.
If you let him cross his own blue line with the puck, you couldn't stop him.

All in all a pretty good game for the Habs.

Phil Esposito was an animal! Not the biggest player but strong as a horse. Extremely skilled for his time, in the 1970-71 season he scored 76 goals and added 76 assists in a 78 game season!

Esposito was strong but all the work was done by Orr, Cashman and Hodge. Esposito parked his big ass in front of the net and shot !
