While there is no official confirmation or announcement yet, the idea of Toronto hosting an F1 race has generated excitement among racing fans and city officials. It remains to be seen whether these efforts will come to fruition.

Personally, i really hope that the Grand Prix gets transferred to Toronto; Montreal doesn’t deserve such a luxury event. The whole city is corrupt, and they have a bad administration. The city has decided to raise license plate fees almost three times the usual fees. The citizens of Montreal have to pay for the incompetent leadership and administration of the city.

The thing about Toronto possibly hosting an F1 race is that i’m not sure where it could be held other than downtown. And if so is it realistic? I guess anything’s possible if the streets of Monte Carlo still host a race. But i’d hope the setup would be better than the one they have for the Toronto Indy race.

As for Montreal i remember one time when former Ferrari racing chief Jean Todt was complaining about the facilities & was questioning if Montreal was still large enough of a city to host such an event. I remember at the time thinking he was making some good points about Montreal’s viability longterm as far as being a major GP host. But my love for Mtl made me ignore some of the facts the detractors brought up since i had later seen first-hand what losing the race for just one year could do to the local economy. Let’s face it: Montreal needs the F1 race more than Toronto does. But from an F1 perspective financially moving the race to Toronto likely would be much more lucrative & make the most sense.

Perso living dowtown i really like this happening...et ça marque vraiment le début de l'été et de toutes les activités qui von s'en suivre....pour moi c'est merveilleux de voir ainsi notre ville vibrer et se réveiller....voir des flots de touristes déambulés ici et là...

The implication is that the Quebec government, motivated by financial gain, may eventually seek to benefit from or impose taxes on individuals involved in the sex industry.

They will never do that. They want to look good on the international stage and show to the world that they are doing something. They want it squeaky clean and supporting prostitution would make them loose votes. They want to be reelected. As for taxes, that will not happen till they find a tax to be able to monitor all interactions between sex workers and clients. I only see this happening when society goes cashless.

Hello, my friend. I want to clarify that I'm not suggesting that the Grand Prix is not enjoyable. What I mean is that it can be quite costly, and it seems inappropriate for a city governed by corrupt officials to host such a magnificent event in their region.On side note, gentleman’s , I kindly ask that you not take offense to my perspective and viewpoint. I am simply expressing my thoughts as I see them. This is the essence of freedom of speech as a citizen . If you are dissatisfied with how your government manages the city, you have the full right to voice your concerns.

First of all, I have not taken offense to your perspective.

Second of all, the Grand-Prix is the biggest international sporting event hosted in Canada, other than the Olympics (or upcoming World Cup) and it happens every year! We are lucky to have it. We are not too small to have it. That is small minded thinking. It is now exploding with new venues across the world, including 3 in the USA since last year. It will only keeping growing in popularity. It would be a disaster to lose it, especially to Toronto. We have to fight to keep it here. You have to look at the profits, not the expenses. If anything, there should be an additional F1 race in Toronto.

Finally, I would add that the majority of people that participate in the festivities don’t even go to the race and may not even be racing fans. It is just an excuse to party and why not?

P.S. I can’t believe those idiots cancelled the Formula E street race in Montreal, because people complained. Such a short sighted view, given the push toward electric vehicles.

Every year at exactly this time of the year the prostitution thing comes out in order to get attention from both sides & for the media to sell newspapers. I was interviewed a couple of times in the past by Maclean’s & later Le Journal de Montreal. The Maclean’s writer was great to deal with & not only did he offer to buy me dinner but he privately told me that the thing that surprised him the most was the kind of money many of the girls were making & was starting to regret not being born female & becoming an sp instead of a journalist. His honesty made me chuckle.

As for the lady who interviewed me for her article in Le Journal de Mtl i had mixed feelings about the experience. We had several interviews over a couple of weeks prior to the GP that year & she seemed pleasant & asked good questions. I was totally honest & told her that hobbying wasn’t the only reason i enjoyed frequently going Mtl. I mentioned frequently going to Mtl to attend concerts or sporting events. Festivals were also a big attraction for me & the best part was meeting up with friends, both local or from elsewhere. I loved the get-togethers we’d have. I loved the culture & many things Mtl had to offer other than just the large availability of pretty young women. As a matter of fact i pointed out that i frequently would go to Mtl & i wouldn’t even hobby. However when the article finally came out not only was my story on the front page but she had ommitted half the things i had told her & made it sound like i was just some financially well off pervert regularly visiting Mtl for strictly the sex industry. The only part she got right was the pervert part! Lol

Anyways i realized the parts she kept for the article was what sells newspapers & shocks people but it was okay. However i had agreed to the interview only if it would be different than the usual ones where the author only takes one side where sex is bad, it’s exploitive, women are forced into the business, they’re all controlled by men, blah-blah-blah.

It's not about cars or racing anymore....it's about who gets seen with who, and who is throwing the best party. You can't see the cars up close everything is kept under wraps like it came out of Area 51.

When there was Indy car racng here in Montreal a few years back…. they would roll out the race cars amongst the crowd…. you could touch them. Drivers would sign caps and t-shirts. You could watch them work and tune the cars….car racing is a spectator sport….if not enough to watch them go round and round.
