Did They became the Greatest while they where with Leaf or after ?:lol:
Should of ask best owner ever Harold Ballard would rank fairly high on sports franchise greatest owners list don't you think ?
I was raised in Ontario the Leaf where a natural but the Canadians where dominating !
But I did enjoy Darryl Sittler ,Lanny Mc Donald ,Borje Salming ,Ian Turnbull they had great stars but where never able to close the deal ,Sadly !
You got to be Leaf !:thumb:

I fell in love with the Leafs in the mid-70's when they had fairly good seasons with those players, along with Mike Palmateer, Errol Thompson, Brian Glenny and others. Those were the years when Roger Neilson made his coaching debut in the NHL. They were contenders & had promise...but it all went down the drain when Pal Hal fired GM Jim Gregory & brought back Punch Imlach, who destroyed whatever promise the franchise had at the time. The franchise was only able to recover once Ballard died & Steve Stavro took over, handling the reins to Cliff Fletcher, who immediately hired Pat Burns away from the Mtl Canadiens.

I always thought that Pat Burns was great coach since his days with The Hull Olympics from QMJHL ,HE brought the Leaf far, just not enough .
Finally did it in Jersey a Cup winner !:thumb:

Mike Krzyzewski deserves to be noted here as well. All the Final Four appearances and National Championships wins as well as being able to keep most of his underclassmen at Duke even though a lot of them would be high NBA draft picks. Also, Basketball USA picks him, not Doc Rivers or Greg Popovich or other NBA coaches as the national team coach. The guy wins, bottom line.

Hi all
If we talk of pre professional level Brian Kilrea is the coach with the most wins ever in hockey history with the Ottawa 67's Major junior in the OHL ,a few Memorial Cups to his credit too !
On March 15, 2009, Ottawa beat the Kingston Frontenacs 5–3 to give Kilrea a win in his final regular season game, giving him 1,193 wins all-time.
The 67's stayed competitive every year under his guidance just has the London Knights are doing now under the Hunters brothers!

He is also a man excelling in a sport in which the majority of the coaches are women.

Also he has not had a losing season since his first year (1985) and his won-loss record is 879-133, an .869 winning percentage. Find one other coach who has those numbers.

Also coached the USA Olympic team to gold in 2012 and has been selected national college coach of the year 7 times.

Marv Levy

For many, Vince Lobardi would be their pick as greatest coach. But for me, it's former Buffalo Bills head coach Marv Levy, who turned the struggling franchise around when he joined them and took them 4 straight times to the SuperBowl. Four straight times!!!

Sure, they didn't win any of them.....their best chance was in that first one & who knows what would have happened next had then won that initial one against the Giants. However, taking a team to the SuperBowl four straight times is a feat we may never see in modern-day professional sports.

After Levy retired as head coach, the team was never the same again & now hasn't made the playoffs in over a decade.

Levy was the Als coach they won !

Sam Pollock may have been a good gm he may not have been. He had an unfair advantage. Back when he built the dynasty mtl i do believe had the rights to the 1st three french canadians in every draft and back then quebec used to supply about 30% of the players that played in the nhl. Imagine if toronto had the rights to protect the 1st three players from ontario every year then the leafs would have won a bunch more cups also.
