TLDR: Basically the title. More context below.
Hi guys (and gals), I just got curious about this and wanted to have an open discussion. In general, I'm wondering how long you think SPs (or MPs) usually stay in the industry and what factors contribute to them usually leaving in your experience/knowledge? Is it after they've been in the industry a certain amount of years, reached a certain age, or achieved a certain life lifestone (got into a relationship, finished college, have a kid, made/saved enough money)? Would appreciate insights from hobbyists, SPs, admin, or anyone really.
More personal context: I've been lurking in forums for about a year now. I'm new to the hobbying scene myself, have only seen quite a few in the Montreal and Toronto areas. I'm probably on the younger side of hobbyists and honestly just did it mostly on a whim to get some more experiences. In the time I've been lurking around, I've noticed quite a few SPs that I was thinking of seeing, but I hesitated on, and then they retired. Some of them were short stays and others were long-time favorites who just unfortunately happened to decide to retire just as I was getting into this. In line with that I've been wondering what markers I should generally watch out for to factor into my decision making. For example, stuff like "oh she's young and in college, maybe she'll stop once she graduates" or "she's been doing this for 2 years now, maybe she'll stop soon". On the other hand, I would also appreciate any insights on signs that someone might be in this for the long stay and I don't have to worry as much about meeting them before they retire.
