^^^^Agreed. I have lost friends and family to this dreaded disease as well and can totally relate to what your saying. I definitely do not agree with the anti vaccinators. They may have some debatable points, but I would prefer a shot in the arm any day of the week over not getting one. I am one of the few in my state that was eligible to get vaccinated. After the shot you have to sit in a waiting area for 15 minutes just in case side effects show up. While I sat there for 15 minutes it felt like the weight of the world had been lifted off of my chest. Just a huge feeling of relief.

ORL here. Get vaccinated and stop focusing on things you are completely uneducated in(if that is the case). I understand the mechanism behind the vaccines but i'm not an backterial or immunologist specialist--I'll leave that the the people have studied for about 20+ years to take care of that part. The amount of patients that come in and have no clue whatsoever what covid or vaccines is is alarming. I'm scared that selective war will happen and take another toll on health workers who are DRAINED.

Minimizing the risk of getting infected is what matters and not the efficiency percentage of a specific vaccine.

I'll add too this that: Studies are still underway to decide whether or not a booster shot from another vaccine could be beneficial and to what extent.
Hello Djlucky7, I would remind you that it is unethical , for you to be giving out medical advice like this.

Before you tell me to shut up , I don't talk about it, but I probably have the same copy of Harrison's on my desk that you do.

Public health in Switzerland is refusing the vaccine as is South Africa. EU is having a problem with it. I mainly have a problem that its made in India. Always cock up there

Yes also the 66% effectiveness does concern me a bit. .

I mean between pfizer and moderna we should be able to get enough .

Just remember, getting the vaccine does not necessarily immunize you entirely. The intent is to strengthen your body's ability to defend against this virus. Like the flu, it will get you, you may even get sick, but it won't be fatal.

Also, it is important to keep in mind that there is one aspect of the effectiveness of the vaccine that is difficult to measure, and that is around whether it will help reduce the spread of the virus. In other words, if you are vaccinated, you may get the virus but also be asymptomatic (since your body's immune system fought it effectively), but you may still be spreading the virus. This means be ready to continue wearing your mask in the foreseeable future. Especially if you don't want to get anyone sick.

This is far from over. Stay safe everyone.

Unethical to give medical advice like this? We have ALL done it, in an airplane, with family members even at the pharmacy when I see someone having an engorged thyroid gland, hives and grabbing multiple cough syrup. Every vaccine that the government approves for use in Canada is safe whether the overall development and approval timeline was quick. This was a global effort focused on one main task and we applied a few things we learned from ebola, zika and previous covid outbreaks. You having a problem that it's made in india is with all due respect the most stupid thing i have read this week. Our unit has lost 17% of our nurses, my main clinical nurse who was the unit hero is under medical leave and left most of her duties to our secretary who is also quitting due to stress and no one to shadow her during the next week to understand what her tasks are all about. I handle stress quite well and dont mind being in the hospital for about 60 hours a week + the 10 additional hours im zooming with fellows that have being doing prepose aux beneficiare tasks while working hard on their followship.

the 60% effectiveness is not a concern, it's a capricious idea, a first world problem but mostly and egoistic action towards everyone in this country.

Here we have the AstraZeneca made in India and its name is the Covishield.

I recently received the Pfizer, but I would have taken a smile on my face the Covishield

Pharma production in India is one of the largest in the world. I don't think there is any point in fearing that they are doing it poorly. But there is another point. The same factories can produce other analogues of astra zeneca that are not related to the authors of the patent. But I also don’t think the government will allow such vaccines on the general market.
I agree with you.
When I was working I used specific antibodies made by AstraZenca, because they were the most effective.

SINGAPORE, March 23 (Reuters) - AstraZeneca may have released outdated information on its latest COVID-19 vaccine trial, giving an "incomplete" picture of its efficacy, a leading U.S. health agency said on Tuesday, casting doubt on the shot's potential U.S. rollout and plunging its developers, once again, into controversy.

The surprise public rebuke from federal health officials comes just one day after interim data from the drugmaker showed better-than-expected results from the U.S. trial. That had been seen as a scientific counter to concerns that have dogged the shot over its effectiveness and possible side effects.

Sene when are you scheduled for your second shot ? In June ?
Problem with such a long delay is that the first shot is much less effective ( less than 50%) with people who have had cancer or have it without knowing they have it. So the question should not be which vaccine I`m getting, but how soon can I get the second shot.

Everyone is free to be vaccinated.

Everyone is free to take the anti-covid vaccine or not.

That said, if you have any concerns it's perfectly normal.
But you must take all the approved vaccines.

As proof, the USA will approve the AtraZeneca soon.

Indeed, my 2nd dose will be in early July.

Unfortunately we are not in an ideal context. I would have preferred earlier but I will make do with it.

For people with serious illnesses should be prioritized.

What's this about people who had/have cancer? I'm pretty curious to know more about this as I have a close family member who this would effect. Do you have a link? Thanks!

CDC, the NCCN recommendations, and other cancer-related organizations say that cancer patients are a high priority group for vaccination. Why?

We all want to get the vaccines to the people who are at most risk for severe COVID-19 complications, and the data show that cancer patients are high risk. Making highly efficacious vaccines available to those populations is going to be important to saving lives.

I searched but could not find anything for the second dose.

I think nothing has been proven.

Cancer patients are a high priority group for vaccination because their immune system is temporarily nonexistent.

Yes, this is true - I guess I was just wondering about the data that cloudsurf was talking about when he said 50%...

Is canada's astra zeneca supply made in teh USA or elsewhere?

PS Every study so far about MRNA vaccine candidates have been good so far. PFizer and Moderna are excellent candidates.

ADDENDUM CANADA's supply is coming from India, not USA until they allow overstock to leave USA. This is a total failure of the PM imo.

Around the corner
Covishield comes from India but is identical to Astra Zeneca.
Right now we have Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson and Astra Zeneca and the Indian version of Astra Zeneca ( Covishield ) approved here in Canada and I presume the Astra Zeneca approved in the US and manufactured there.
what I don’t understand is that they supposedly approved Covishield under a different name than Astra Zeneca because it is made in India yet have not approved the one made in the US under a different name as it is definitely a different manufacturing place than the one made in Europe.

There has been as I understand a million and a half doses of Astra Zeneca already shipped here that was made in the US also.
