Had my first Krispy Kreme doughnut today, awful. You could put your health in jeopardy if you ate too many of these. They are by far the worse doughnuts I have ever eaten. They are too sweet and a lot of fat is used to make these doughnuts. MY first choice is Tim Hortons, a distant second is Duncan Doughtnuts and Kistpy Kreme should be declared a health hazard.

A cultural embarrasment

I first came upon Krispi Kream during a week long school for work in Los Angeles a few years ago. The Angelenos would wait for an hour in the drive through lane to get fresh donuts hot from the frying. I figured a donut better have a lot of charm to warrant taking such time. Someone in the office brought in a box. I tried one and decided It AIN'T THAT GOOD. Since then they built an outlet in my town where a cow pasture used to be. Of course once one business is built its practically a law that a McDonalds must be built across the street, a gas station be put up on the opposite corner and a WAL-MART be opens 7/10s of a mile away. What once was a peaceful pastoral setting is now like anycity USA where fat-asses drive their Gas Hogs to buy cheap trinkets from China that they dont need. I must admit it does sound odd that when offered a krispi kream I refuse for political reasons, but It makes me sick how marketing people try to build such excitement around a simple pastry.

I find these Krispy Kremes too sweet, and I suspect that the amount of fat use to make these doughnuts must be double that of other doughnuts. Just put one aside for several days and you will see that it stays moist, that is a sign that it is full of fat. I can see how some people can get addicted to them. Tim Horton doghnuts might not be good for you, but I suspect that eating one Krispy Kreme is like eating several Tim Horton Doughnuts.
I would realy like to know if that frying sound you hear at Krispy Kreme is the sound of doughnuts being manufactured or is it the sound of peoples arteries cloging up?

Do any of you remember "Jolt"? It was a cola that was not ashamed to be a "real" cola. Their slogan: "Twice the caffeine, Twice the sugar- all the taste".

If you needed a non-healthy - please give me a heart attack in a glass - that was the drink to go to.

It didn't do anything for me - but I knew a few people who just loved the stuff.

I think that Krispy Kreme is basically the same - "twice the fat - twice the sugar - over exhaust your taste buds" kind of attitude.

They're good, but I won't make a detour to get them.

KK rules by far. Not being a diet person might help but let me tell you, I could eat a dozen at one time. Tim's are stale far too often (not made on premisis) and DD the same KK are not in the coffee business, they just make great donuts
