Hi everyone, this might be a weird question, but when making a booking for the first time with an agency, is it weird to mention you are a member of merb :)? Will it help in soft-screening? Appreciate your inputs. Thanks!
I have no idea who you are …I looked at your messages and could hardly find any review.
Having hundreds of irrelevant posts does not make you ‘well known‘ to agencies.

You want me to dig up all my past posts and show all the messages I sent to agencies lol? I just summarized 2025 here: https://merb.cc/xenforo/threads/2025-summary.250861/post-1806996
Also I didn't leave reviews of pretty well-reviewed folks as there were enough already.

Ofcourse, I understand I am not that well known compared to others here.

Agencies do screening?

In regards to weirdness, just think about a business you are paying a service for. Does it help to say who you are?

Lesson learnt. Embarassed myself enough today lol.
Not at all! Your question seems like a reasonable one to me, and after all MERB identifies you as a "well-known member" (unless that refers to your notable phallus--it's unclear). One hopes that agencies care just a little tiny bit where they send their SPs (lol??). I don't mention MERB but I always introduce myself when I contact an agency, especially if I've used them before. And I agree with @Lionelmessi: a track record here can help with Indies.

I think It may be useful to mention your Merb handle when booking with Indys to help with identification and they’ll evaluate how well known you are
Does how "well-known" you are on MERB correlate with how well you treat women? Because I think that's the premise in this thread and I highly doubt that it is valid.

Honestly, don't be.

Thing is over the years, there have been so many examples of members trying to leverage their presence on boards like this one to sps in hopes of gaining some kind of advantage / special treatment that it doesn't always go the way they imagined. There are some that welcome it, and others that don't. If you ever follow any sp discussion online, you'll see a lot of bashing towards review boards and a certain type of character that is more interested in taking advantage rather than enjoying... As always, a few bad apples ruin it for the rest.

So as others have mentionned, if its to satisfy some kind of screening process, that's up to you. Personally, I like encounters to be as natural as possible without any sense of expectation.

Bottom line is: give information (up to what is reasonable to your limit) when asked. Don't think that giving information by yourself without being asked being an advantage. Most of the case it will sound like a red flag at worst or weird at best.

Hard disagree. I think we confuse what being here means to providers. The discourse here is not always super friendly to sps (indy or otherwise) and while they can't avoid being mentioned on sites like these (and sometimes can benefit from positive reviews) there can be an overall negative view of review board participants as a result. The only time I've ever been turned down was bc I they asked during booking where I found them and I said terb and the indy had a no review policy and, despite my explaining that I wouldn't write a review (and I only write positive ones), they said they weren't comfortable with the idea of seeing me as a result.

Personally I wouldn't tell a soul about being on here until such time as you've built some trust with them, if you like.

Around the corner
I wouldn’t I don’t think it helps and I doubt agencies care.
As far as Indy’s, it depends there are some Indy’s that it would definitely mean a rejection as you don’t always agree with their posts and may rub them the wrong way, ( then again why would you want to see those anyway) with some it might help, but even with Indy’s I wouldn’t volunteer my handle and much rather give a reference from one of the ladies I have seen.

With Sp that don’t advertise on Merb I think being a Merb member is a disadvantage as most don’t care too much for people who are part of the review culture and view them negatively.
