How do most MERB members feel about the never-ending public disputes between MERB and MERC, and sometimes MM?

I am curious about how most MERB members feel about the never-ending public disputes between MERB and MERC, and sometimes MM?

Here is my position:

I am a member of all three boards. I joined all three for the same reasons:

1. To read reviews of SPs and MPs, so as to maximize my hobbying experience. I have tried to contribute as much as posssible to each board, recognizing that the the value of any review board depends on the contribution of it's membership.

2. To gain access to the viewpoint of SPs and MPs and to interact online with SPs and MPs. I believe that one thing that the Montreal boards have in common, compared with escort boards in Ontario, elsewhere in Canada, and in the US, is the lack of participation of SPs and MPs. Despite this fact, incredibly, one of the three boards has in fact taken actions to stiffle the participation of providers! (not MERB BTW).

3. To share experiences and advice with fellow hobbyists. Escort review boards are one of the few places where hobbyists can share their successes and failures with each other, and provide much needed advice and assistance.

To me, each of the three boards have their own strengths and weaknesses, with regards to: respect of fellow members, friendliness, overall tone, respect and empathy towards SPs and MPs, opportunity to interact with SPs and MPs, flexiblity and responsiveness of Mods, particpation levels, frequency of reviews, etc. I could rate each of the three boards on these varous attributes, and overall. However, this is not my intention. To me, membership and affliation in one board does not exclude the other two. To me, it is not a Canadiens-Nordiques, ferderalist-independentist type divide. Therefore, the disputes between MERB/MERB/MM often seem pettty and silly to me.

I would therefore be interested in how other MERB members feel with respect to this issue.

I share pretty much your general feelings Robin, though I am not a member of the other forums, because I just read them very occasionnaly.
I agrre also that with reading lots of posts, you learn to read between the lines and know the tone of the posters.. you know what to take with a grain of salt or seriously.
I just avoid reading these threads on one vs the other and who said what on the other board. I also laugh at the posters who take time to express their disbelief at whatever is posted "there" (there being not on the board where the discussion is taking place).

Hello likeit,

I would like to address just one point in your post regarding moderation and board rules. Yes moderation has changed over the years as it has had to adapt to the ever changing nature of the board in general. The same applies to making new rules or enforcing them. We are always open to listen to any member's ideas or criticism of both these things.

To give just a couple of examples of how we listen to our members:

The No Review Policy. The NRP originally was available to any provider who requested it. Members complained that it could be used to hide from bad reviews or by agencies using bait and switch tactics. Due to these concerns, we modified the policy and it is now only available to SPs who are leaving the business or who can prove personal safety concerns. No actively advertising SP may be granted a NRP now. Members spoke and we listened to their concerns and made the necessary changes.

We also instituted a 2 day suspension for members who post information requests that include a link to non-advertising providers. This was done after concerns expressed by advertisers that such posts were commonly being made by new members for the sole purpose of getting free advertising for the provider in the link being posted. This was unfair to all the advertisers who pay to advertise and support this board and make this community possible.

These are just two of the more visible adaptations that have been instituted due to member concerns. Like any community, MERB is always in flux. We are always ready to listen to members' concerns regarding our rules and moderation. All anyone need do is use the PM function and let us know your ideas or concerns. There is also the MERB Suggestion thread which we read every time there is a new post. Mods are not psychic and the only way we can know what members want is if they tell us.

Knowing that on internet the "value" of a site is based on the "loyalty" of those visiting the site, any and all discussion about other boards should not be allowed.
It is a question of respect. If someone shops at Walmart and has bad experience I do not see the point to go at Sears and complaint about Walmart.
I agree fully here. I find it amusing that Mods here kicked out a binch of people for starting flaming wars withing MERB... but now there seems to be a flaming war going on 'cross boards!! So ... doesn't it defeat the intial purpose? No comprendo... :)

Thank you for starting this thread RobinX, much appreciated.

Been a member of both boards for quite some time now, as with RobinX, my main motivation
for consulting review boards is to gain info and insight into lady companion’s disposition and
appreciation (reviews) of other contributors. This to maximize my chances of having a good
and satisfying encounter, the rest is just noise to me. Its crystal clear that one of the 2 boards
as not much pertinent info to offer, being ruled by overbearing chatters with many issues that
uses the boards to vent and/or create a “readership” as one puts it (too funny and pathetic –
this is said without PREJUDICE, ROFLOL) contributing no usable pertinent info, but its sometime
mildly entertaining. (by the way what’s MM, any pertinent reviews ?)

Couldn’t care less about the current feud or any other for that matter, obviously if one can make
a case that privilege or personal information was broadcasted over the Net potentially damaging
ones character and reputation then they should take it to the authorities. I would imagine
that adding fuel to the perceived fire by the ones affected will potentially lessen your chances
to prevail in a court of Law.

But who cares, I don’t need to read this endless chatter, its way passed entertaining.

Ban advertisers because you don’t like what others are saying on a competing board, really!
MSC/SD is regarded by this board membership as are one of the top agencies in Montreal.

https://merb.cc/vbulletin/showthread.php?69071-Montreal-s-Best-Agency&highlight=poll

I’ve called on their services on many occasions pre and post of this “boycott” why ?
Not because they advertise on the Evil empire board, it’s a free society you know, they can
spend their advertising dollars where they see fit. Because they’re easy & pleasant to do
business with, their team is composed of lady companions that meet my likings and provide
a great experience. That’s it!

Should there be more than these reasons?
Don’t believe so

Did MSC/SD do something illegal according to Canada’s and Quebec laws?
No

Take your feud to court already! And stop polluting the boards with yours endless & useless
chatter/rants.

It’s counterproductive to the mission of the boards, which is, if some of you guys actually
forgot, to review/share with others members your appreciations of lady companion’s services
we’ve met, so we can all benefit.

FYI, if you must know, I will call on MSC/SD again, maybe even more so with the announcement
of boycott v2.0 (LOL) promoted by a VERY LIMITED disgruntled members.

Definitively need to figure out how the ignore list works.

i have visited all three boards regularly. overall, merb provides the largest collection of useful information and i have generally found the posters to be reliable. montreal massage (mm) provides good information regarding the massage scence, especially for some select mps not covered by merb. the amount of useful information at merc has continually declined to the point that i visit it less frequently.

I understand that you as Mod most adapt the board according to changes foereseen by members, usually for the better. But changes in nature, I don't get it.

The first time I've found and appreciated the boards was in 2004. Blue came out first, but a couple of months of research later, green appeared. Which one of the two was more appealing? Green of course, due to simplicity, completeness and more reviews and advertisers. The seriousness of the reviews or discussions as well as moderation then was in fact way better on green than on blue. Don't get me wrong though, I didn't despise Blue then, I've just found that Green was a couple of notch better.

Nonetheless, more members joined Green, quality of reviews dropped, and here we are with a drama, war, rains of insults and accusation of all sorts. It's worst then a pissing contest. And with that, you are trying to pull innocent people with you in this non-sense. Even the Moderators don't moderate. Well, they do. But not as it should be expected. Worst of all, they get personnal (one, more then the other).

It's sad to see. Really sad. And like Shijack and others have said before, it's only a few that are stirring this shit and keeping this agressivity ongoing. When will it stop? Do we need a fistfight? Do we need one dead body? Don't get me wrong here, reading what you've all said makes me wonder how far will you go. It's too intense to say otherwise.

It's also sad to notice that most of are beyong your 40s, and still fighting like kids in public. He said this he did that. Pathetic. You should be better than that.

The nature then was calm and respectful, why change that? Why suddenly shall we mimic the imperfection of the blue. Can't you fight your own problems without using the mass? Being a hobbyist to me is all about being civilized and respectful. Maybe it's the innocent part in me, and maybe I don't get the whole pictures. It is still non-sense to me to carry this over here and to drag people down for difference of opinion.

Can we bring back peace in this board? Moderators? Can you "lead" by example?

I joined this board in 2003, under a different handle. Blue didn't exist at that time; Tom saw merbs success and tried to copy cat.

As far as our mods leading by example, they are doing just that. There is no moderation at all on the blue board.

As far as moderation goes, it could be better and put a stop to this crazyness. At the moment, it's obvious that you (general form here) can all say what you (general form here again) want as long as it targets Blue. It comes a time when you say enough is enough. I come to think that there is a majority that think likewise. But it's just my opinion.

Since Mods appreciate suggestions on rules, here is an interesting twist to an updated rule. Extend the ban rule to any flaming issues regarding/toward other boards. It's worthless and gives them unnecessary credits.

Quote from mcfly..

I really doubt some of these older guys going back and forth on the web will go any further?
On the other board.. You have a guy saying he misses the day that real men go out back, and shoot the fair one.?
The same guy mentions calling the police.
And then once again claims he was visited by a goon who told him "ok, ok Relax" when he rolled up his sleeves.:amen:
i wish the issues of these few individuals would be taken care of in private in whatever manner they see fit.. Of Course Excluding violence.
But a dead body we need not fear.. These guys could cross each other drunk at a bar, and still never throw a punch.

Whats worse is i thought this was a general beef between the boards, and now the two sides are revealing info that it might just be all because of a personal matter involvong a few men.

Let me see if I've got this right. Merb didn't exist because you didn't know about it? That's a very interesting way of looking at the world. Does the sun also rotate around you?

That's your understanding. But it's not my say.

Read again and try to make sense out of it.

Wait, let me put it in simple words instead. I surfed the net. I discovered that there was a board talking about SP. It ended up being Blue. I was impressed that such a "society exist". But after that, looking more and more about this "society", I have then discovered there was a Green one.

It's like picking out of a Smarties box, which one will you get first, the pink, the yellow, the brown...?

And about that sun rotating around me, it's all about perception. In some way it does, in some others, it doesn't.

It's funny, cause I feel I can ask you the same question. But I won't. You might get confused.

In the mind of the majority, as long as they don't know something, for them, it doesn't exist.

Welcome and have a nice day.

Vote To Ban All Reference To The Blueboard.

Hello all,

Since Mods appreciate suggestions on rules, here is an interesting twist to an updated rule. Extend the ban rule to any flaming issues regarding/toward other boards. It's worthless and gives them unnecessary credits.
Damn good idea!!! In my opinion it's time for the membership here to put action and teeth into the general feeling I get that these infrequent confrontations by this board with the other are useless and only serve to give blue trolls the fun they can't live without.

Yes, I understand the need to defend ourselves at times, but in the end it just becomes an excuse to flame and continue personal vendettas that will never end otherwise.

PROPOSAL: Any mention of the blueboard or it's members by Merb members be absolutely banned. Only the Mods will be able to make notices of any pertinent information when and as they see fit in a closed thread if they feel it is necessary.

This will be a PUBLIC POLL. I think individual members should show where they stand.

Cheers,

Merlot

Small clarifications

We did not start anything against these guys. MERC started accepting members which have been labelled as persona non grata here. These people started shooting at everything green under the sun, breaking all normal forum rules, and even more rules that apply to subject such as sex work.

Now they have linked my board handle to my address and phone number...

None of this stuff would be a problem here: posts of that nature only live minutes, hours at the very best. Over there, totally different story.

MERC was always a taboo subject here until the attacks from the other side got too much. We DON'T want to talk about them, but the attacks have now taken on a vicious and dangerous tone.

There is plenty of information in other threads but this should suffice.

I voted that it was necessary because right now MERB is the only sex work community forum where MERC targets can have a voice.

I do vote for this: that both boards ERASE all references and attacks on the other board and outlaw them for good. THEN we can go back to normal life.

I can just imagine at this juncture the effect of MERB banning mention of MERC: an explosion of joyous defamation...

What a great idea, Merlot. You'd like Dee and Tony to be free to call you whatever they choose, as they have, without you having any recourse whatsoever?

I vote for the mods to delete this poll. They have more than enough to do without having to constantly monitor merc, as you suggest they do.

You know, McFly, there are 47,838 threads on merb and 356,431 posts; this statement of yours is the single most amazing thing I've read in the 8 years of merb.

So what you're saying is that if someone doesn't know the holocaust happened, then it didn't. If someone didn't hear about the tsunami in Japan, then it didn't happen.

Wow. You should know, by the way, that ignorance is not bliss. It's just ignorance. And you should also know that the majority doesn't choose ignorance. You, sir, are in the minority.
