Five guys burger are not very good. If you want to eat good burger in Montreal, go to l'Anecdote, Maam Bolduc or Zazium.

I think tastes are a personal thing. Personally, i love the Five Guys burger. Unfortunately for me, i no longer eat burgers or hot dogs. But i guess this is a good thing. I want to lose 30 lbs by the end of the year & this means no burgers, no hot dogs, no fries & no pasta, among other things. Basically, no more eating crap! I don't want to get to a point where i can't even see my own dick when i'm pissing or need a mirror to trim my own pubic hair!

As for the places you mentionned, are their burgers under $7? If not, i'm not interested. I will not pay a crazy amount of money just for a fucking hamburger!! I can make the same fucking hamburger on my Napoleon barbecue grill for under $2. I will not be a victim to grossly overpriced burger joints! It's just a fucking hamburger, for christ sakes!

I love Thai and I discovered a new place not far from me on Maisonneuve..It's called Pick Thai
5221boul. de Maisonneuve Ouest...The food is fabulous and ambiance is chic ...don't be afraid to try new things. The owner gave us an eggplant salad to try {something i would have never ordered** and believe me i will be having it again. Have fun and enjoy!

Was that eggplant salad made with cooked or marinated eggplants? I have found that raw eggplant needs to be salted before cooking or marination due to the copious quantity of water that it holds. Salting it draws the water out and dehydrates the eggplant meat.

It was marinated then cooked i believe ...it was not mushy or anything...i don't know much about cooking especially eggplant but you will enjoy it..it was a burst of flavor with every bite.

The 3 burgers places I mentionned are all very cheap, Doc. I'm always sad to see 15/25yo always go to Mc Donalds when they want burgers. For almost the same price they can eat 100000times better burgers...

Burgers are the only meals I found better in North America than in Europe (if we can call them meals). You also have some very good Steakhouses in here.

For the rest, I mainly prefer waiting to be back in Europe, nevertheless here are my favorite restaurants in Montreal :

There is a place : O noir restaurant where you eat in the dark without seeing anything. It can be very sensual and even more......

Get a bicycle..find a rail to trail path..that will lose you some weight

...There is [was] a french pastery shop on St-Denis in the Quartier Latin (the strech between De Maisonneuve and Ontario). I had a hot chocolate there. It semed to be Ze French Pastery shop in Montreal. I googled French Pastery St Denis, though I only found a place close to Mont Royal. Google search also revealed another one on Sherbrooke...

I have been at the Quartier Latin this afternnon. This french bistrot still exists. It is called La Brioche Lyonnaise. More reviews on Yelp.

I have been at the Quartier Latin this afternnon. This french bistrot still exists. It is called La Brioche Lyonnaise. More reviews on Yelp.

I've had brunch there several times (also stayed at Relais Lyonnaise). Very good proper French omelette - folded flat, moist (butter), good filling.

Ha ha, I've taken a few SP's there for dinner. At first they wanted to dress down. I told them it was kinda trendy. Convinced them to go in semi-see-thru top and no bra, LOL. The male patrons and staff were quite please. PS the gals are exhibitionists - no problem wearing short shorts or showing full cleavage

i went to PACINI IN ST JEROME THIS SATURDAY...damn i am piss ....first time everrrr i went to a PACINI restaurant...and gonna be the last trust me...first off...they say you could eat bread a (volonté)...it is not bread like little bread or croissant or else.....it is TOAST...just damn toast...unbelivable ... and to top that off ...you could put them on a little and i mean little(my bbq is bigger lol) Grill....was sooooo disapointed...so i said ..ok gonna wait for the main course...28,99$ for fettucini and shrimp...the order came...ok the shrimp were good for 4 of them sacrament!!!..but the sauce not at all..i was not impressed at all..and the pasta...i do make them reall better...so overall sooo much disapointed and cost for two=120$... NEVER AGAIN FOR ME..

OMG you bring back memories! My ex introduced me to Pacini in Quebec City and making your own "toast" (which was a wonderful thick soft and chewy Italian bread i do believe) as you call it, is the highlight of going there. With the flavored butter spreads and grilling them to perfection yourself is a treat. Their food was always pricey if you did not take one of their specials but was always excellent. Maybe the chef was in a bad mood at the one you ate at Panthere. Thanks for reminding me about Pacini, i MUST go to one in Montreal or wait til I am back in Quebec City later this fall.

Its really difficult for people from montreal to agree which is the best pho in town. I eat pho 3-4 times a week. Being part asian is what happen most of the time. in chinatown there is a few i really like to go. But my two gems are pho lien across from jewish hospital on cotes des neiges street and my alf is nguyen phi that is a few block from the hospital too. The papaya and beef jerky salad is what i always aak as appetizer and a xl pho daet. But large is more than enough.

Aspen, I enjoy pho. I have yet to try pho in Montreal. You mentioned a couple places both near Cote des neiges: Pho Lien (****), and Nygyen Phi.

Anything in downtown? I've passes by a couple places in Guy-Concordia area (like Pho Nguyen) and Chinatown.

Great thing about places being reviewed in this thread:
* chain with 100+ locations
* diner / dive / hole-in-the-wall
* mom/pop shop, thats been around since, forever
* well reviewed resto
* new trendy place
* high end place (actually, I am still waiting for review of Europea)
* true new, never been heard before, can't-go-wrong place (actually, I am still waiting for review of one of these)

In chinatown, Pho Bac is my usual pho in Chinatown! But if you are into Ramen aswell try Misoya ramen, its a chain more american, the only one located in montreal is next to concordia, hall building! Its to die for. But be careful to not add too much extras... I do, extra egg, nori, 3 slices of pork, corn ans spicy. And you end up with a 20$ ramen. But its worth every penny!!

And about europea, I havent been im ages, in the time my uncle used to own Bis, restaurant just next to it. Great Restaurant. Probably the best of all restaurant in the block.

Misoya is located on Bishop just up from Maisonneuve. I ate here twice on my last trip and yes, it is worth every penny and delicious but the sodium content is outrageous!
