Last September Dalian group from China bought AMC theatres (2nd largest movie theater chain in North America) thus becoming with their own theatres in China the world's largest cinema chain.

AMC had recently (2006) merged with Loews and Cineplex.

Fortune Global 500
Asia has now more Global 500s in terms of numbers than any other continent including North America.

From 2001 to 2011, North American based companies have been reduced by -32% (about 215 to 146), whereas the Asian based companies have increased rapidly from 116 to 172 which is roughly +32%.

Tokyo is still the city holding the most no. of them with 47 while Beijing now rank 2nd with 41, ahead of Paris 23, London 18 and New-York 18.

Now that looks like some on-going trend.

China is about to become the largest oil importer earlier than expected.

The US domestic production is doing well, so it's a matter of time when it will impact the world's energy trade landscape and affect China's foreign policies.

Also China will be pushing to reform it's oil pricing mechanism which could see the 4 percent fluctuation on the 22-working day cycle of crude end.

2 weeks ago, Russia and China reached an agreement (another one) to boost oil trade bewteen them.

It looks like China will move ahead as the no. 1 importer before turning to their own domestic production like the US did.
