Well, it's well-known among hockey experts that the Leafs' objective this season is to tank it. They want to finish at the bottom of the standings in order to be able to draft John Tavares or one of the other top 3 picks. This is why they're still $10 million under budget. If they'd really want to win, you can bet they'd be right at the cap level. Do i like it? No. I'd rather have them spend that money on Mats Sundin & another good player in order to make the team more competitive.
But i'm not surprised by last night's outcome. However, i was shocked that they were able to beat Detroit at the Joe Lewis Arena on Thursday night. Expect the Leafs to struggle all season long at the .500 level & then tank it for good in the last couple of months. They should be a playoff team again in about 2-3 years.
For now, i'm still a Leafs fan and always will be. However, i'm as much a Habs fan as i ever was. Go Habs Go!!!!!
