The Rangers are being cautious with Igor and sacrificed a possible point last night with a shootout loss to Vegas. Georgiev was actually pretty good last night and has had 3 OK or good games and one poor game since Igor has been out, and his backup Kincaid played once and had a poor game. The Rangers offense could be scoring more goals, and it is becoming very clear that the main reason they have the record they have is Igor. The Rangers are tied with TB and TOR with 42 points, second most in the NHL behind Washington. The only one of those teams that has a goalie like Igor is TB in Vasilevkiy, and a showdown between the two Russian goalies, for final Russian goalie supremacy, may be coming in the playoffs.

Predators, Bruins shut down through Christmas
The Predators and Bruins have both been shut down through Christmas, while the Canucks and Maple Leafs have both had their next two games postponed, including a matchup between the two teams.
Probably a 3 week pause until around January 8 would be best as that way everyone can go home for the holidays and ride out the holiday spike.

The NHL and its union have agreed to not send players to the Olympics this year due to the surge in COVID-19.
Interesting that while the NHL has hit the pause button, the NBA, NFL and NCAA basketball all play on. In the Big East, there have been 3 games forfeited due to Covid. Although I was laughed at and ridiculed in this thread for suggesting that teams with Covid protocol issues forfeit games, this is exactly what the Big East is doing. I suspect their reasoning is that if you have to lose games due to being unable to play them on account of Covid, you will tighten up the ship:
