The Rangers were very lucky to get him as their coach. After he led Canada to the World Championship, which was after a tremendous run by a team that started off slow and then gelled, any team could have had him, including Montreal. When other teams passed on him and the Rangers hired him, I knew from Day 1 that he would take this Rangers team to the next level. He had coached the LV Golden Knights to the greatest expansion season in the history of professional sports and almost won the Stanley Cup in the process.
For the Rangers, it is clear that the rebuild was going well, I just did not think a rapid ascenscion would happen this quick. Gallant is the main reason why, Igor is another. There were signs that this team was a developing young team and had a chance to be great 2 yeas ago. When Shesterkin won his first 10 games as a rookie and set numerous records in the process, the team seemed ready to take a huge step. All of that came to a crashing end when Shesterkin got into a car accident in NYC after some idiot pulled a U-turn in front of the car Igor was driving, causing fractured ribs which ended his season. At the time of that injury he was on fire like he is now. But the overall team needed a leader like Gallant and now they have one. The sky is the limit for this team in the next 4-5 years.
