Good omens
Habs could surprise a lot of the so-called experts this year. I know everyone and his mother have already written them off this season even before the first puck of the regular season has dropped. But once Carey takes over at goalie, he'll give the Habs a chance to win in most games. The kid is the real deal. He's that good. I also like the speed of Grabovski on the front line.

I agree however Huet was pretty amazing against Carolina. He could be an excellent asset this year, provided he doesn't get hurt again...picasso said:
Yes a good start to the NHL season... I never liked Carolina and always thought the NHL "helped" them win a cup to bolster attendance... I'll be at the Seantor's home opener against the Leafs tonight... and while I still don't like the 4 on 4 OT I'll take it.
I'm an Ottawa half season ticket owner and a full season for the Philadelphia Flyers so it wasn't a perfect start yet but it is close.

Yes sir, the "experts" have it wrong - again! With Huet (Hip Hip Huet!) and Price, Montreal has the best goaler tandem in the league. Mark Streit will make Habs fans forget all about Souray (who bailed for a bigger pay cheque).

As for Toskala, he was brutal in the preseason - what was his record? something like 0-4 with a monster goals-against-average of around 5 or 6?

We have played all of one game. The Leafs have been almost unanimously picked to finish ahead of the Canadiens, and likely will. A very successful season for the Canadiens would be 10th place in the East. They have no players who can score goals. This is the new NHL, not the old NHL. In the new NHL you win because you have talented forwards who can put the puck in the net, and physical shut down defenders. The Canadiens have neither. The goaltender position is the one strength of the team, but you cannot win with two solid goalies and nothing in front of them.

Wrong again. The reason Lapierre was sent down to Hamilton was because Gainey had to justify getting Kostopoulos by keeping him on the roster. It was essentially a battle between Lapierre & Kostopoulos for that roster spot. Grabovski with his speed is a keeper in the majors.
Raycroft sucks
Or should I say leaks. Obviously you have a short memory. Raycroft leaks like a sieve. Aubain was one of the reasons the Laughs were in contention for a playoff spot until the end of the season, not Raycroft. How many games did Raycroft blow last year when the Laughs had the lead going into the final period? Toskala is a step up from Raycroft but I'm glad to see the Laughs kept Raycroft. It just means the Laughs will have plenty of opportunities to blow more leads this year.

I hate the Leafs but the Habs deserved to lose last night. They have to learn to maintain discipline in critical moments of the game. It would also be nice if they learned to score goals in the power play.

An impressive win for the Habs last night over Pittsburgh as Carey Price was very good in his debut – I’m sure the so-called “experts” predicted the Penguins in a romp. Speaking of romps, nice to see the Toronto Maple Laffs get their asses handed to them the other night. Montreal should have beaten the Maple Losers on Saturday, being up 3-1 at one point, otherwise Toronto would be winless. Can’t wait for the home opener, the Bell Centre will be rocking!

The beginning was exciting...but the hurricanes were too strong. 3-1 for them.
Habs should get rid of Kostopoulos: I was carefully observing all his moves -> the potential is there, but he is not reliable at this moment ( I constantly had that feeling anyone could have steal the puck from him...).
A great character win for the Habs last night against Buffalo - and to make it a perfect Saturday night - the Toronto Maple Laffs grab their ankles in the third period against Chicago! Naturally the Laughs are a freakin joke and are now pushing their 4 decades of futility towards the half century mark. Don't get too excited though - the Habs aren't any better, even though they haven't sucked for as long as the Laughs. Who has? Oh yeah: Chicago. In fact of the heralded Original Six, only Detroit has consistently emphasized class over the last 15 years.
A great win Monday night as the Habs light it up against the Boston teddy bears. Meanwhile, the Toronto-Make-Me-Laughs lose to worst team in the eastern conference and add to their league leading goals against average.

The season is actually 2 games older for the laughable Leafs than for the Senators, Bruins or Habs. If you look at points per game played, they're also behind Tampa Bay, the Islanders, and Pittsburgh. They're quite fortunate that the NHL admits 143 teams into the playoffs. Let's see where they are next August when the cup is finally decided.Doc Holliday said:
