The Rangers have traded Derek Dorsett to Vancouver for a 3rd round pick:

http://nypost.com/2014/06/27/rangers-trade-dorsett-to-vancouver-from-3rd-round-pick/

Dorsett led the Rangers with 10 fighting majors in 51 games, 8 more than any of his teammates. This is truly impressive production. I guess the Rangers feel Daniel Carcillo can handle goon duties, but the fact of the matter is that Dorsett is a higher quality goon. The stats on fighting majors speak for themselves.

In the final analysis, even quality goons have to be traded due to the fucking cap!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I liked Dorsett ( when he was a Blue Jacket )
He tried hard as a Ranger, but was always a bit too slow , and most of his fights were not impressive
For what he did, we would have been better off with Asham in the lineup, rather than playing in CT

I wish him luck, but he was the " Todd Harvey " of 2013-14

We need to address toughness, as this was the # 1 reason IMHO why we didn't win the cup

Dylan McIlrath will never get promoted, Brandon Mashinter was a bust, etc...

Best Regards

A Leaf Trade

Carl Gunnarson for Roman Polak. Let's examine the facts:

CG played more games (80 versus 72) and had more points (17 vs. 12).

CG had a BETTER plus/minus (plus 12 versus plus 3) on a FAR worse team. Let's face it: the Leafs stank last season, as they have ever since 1967.

CG is younger (27 versus 28).

CG earns $3.15 million, RP $2.75 million...BUT in a typical Leaf move, they will pick up $200K of CG's salary after the trade.

One for one? Don't be silly: typically, the Leafs are also throwing in a draft pick.

By the way, RP doesn't hit, score, or block shots.

Looks like the Leafs wanted one MORE pylon. To Leaf management, RP is probably "captain" material...just like their current "captain".

No wonder this inept and embarrassing franchise is quickly approaching FIFTY YEARS of complete and utter failure.

Still, thanks to this laughingstock of a "team" for providing so many chuckles over the past 47 years. As usual the Leafs are funnier than Jerry Seinfeld, Eddie Murphy and Chris Rock combined.

Look behind you.
In the draft the Oilers chose another.......... wait for it.............. saying it was really crucial and needed................. big center..... WTF! The oilers need defence, trade the pick ( or at least try to ) for some defence. No matter who good your team is if you get 40 SOG ( I only get 1 :( ) you are going to lose. I will still cheer for them as it is my home town but enough already.

I guess you can't blame the poor bastard. He must be worn out at a young age. He's usually having to face twice as many shots as any team the Leaf's play. Hahaha.

I feel sorry for this young man. Facing 40-50 shots a game and than his coach, after a loss, says he was OK.

In other words, he was to blame for the loss.

It is one thing, to be traded to the leafs, you know what you are getting to, but to be drafted by the leafs, PRISON. Let me out !!

One wise man said " NO ". Quoted from Josh Gorges.

Western trades. The Oilers trade Gagner after drafting a center and saying that it was a needed position. I know Gagner does not have the size but he played a good game most of the time. The salary cap only got a tiny change. Clowns in the office over there. Go Oilers Go

I'm happy for Danny Briere for finally escaping the Montreal Zoo.

On another note, I'm told by one of my league sources that Josh Gorges will indeed be traded to the Leafs by tomorrow. I've also learned that Brian Gionta will not be back since the cheap bastards only want to give him a 1-year contract, while other teams have offered at least two.

Yes, MTL, being among the 29 teams not named the Leafs, tries to win and gets rid of aging players rather than give pylons long term contracts at 7 million annually.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed defenceman Tim Gleason on unconditional waivers for the purpose of buying him out.

Gleason will remain on the Leafs' salary cap for the next four seasons because this is an ordinary-course buyout.

Toronto already used its two compliance buyouts on Mike Komisarek and Mikhail Grabovski.

According to CapGeek, Gleason will cost $833,333 US against the cap next season, $1,833,333 in 2015-16 and then $1,333,333 in 2016-17.

The Leafs traded for Gleason on Jan. 1, sending John-Michael Liles to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Gleason is just the latest name (along with Tucker , Domi .. etc ...) to join the long list of Leaf buyouts. Another product of terrible trades and useless free agent signings by this sad-sack, bottom feeding Toronto organization.

I did not figure anything out. It suddenly saved changes to the title that were not previously saved, for reasons I cannot explain. I am guessing that maybe Freddy Zed waved a magic wand?
