Habs lose another leader. Captain Brian Gionta, who was the heart & soul of the team, just signed with Buffalo for 3 years @4.25 per year. Congrats to Gionta & Gorges for escaping the MTL Zoo.

Considering the crazy amount of money these two players got, i'm literally doing cartwheels that the Leafs told them to get lost. Lol

That goes to show you how little you really know - Bolland was talking to the TSN panel and said it came right down to the wire between two teams (FLA and TML) and that the dollars and term were very close - so much for getting 'lost'. FAIL

Same here, especially Bolland for that kind of money and with a gimp leg that many never see him get back to the way he used to play. He can talk all he wants and say he "will be" 100% by camp but truthfully, nobody knows until the results are seen on the ice.... See Ya Dave, always liked you but not for 5.5 per.

Raymond was a great player for $1 mil, but not 3 times that. We have enuf young guys that can graduate from the Marlies to take his place and dirt cheap.

Seems Buffalo is not tanking for McDavid  There nuts! They could of easily had a lock on CM.

Gorges waived his no-trade to Buffalo earlier today, likely when Gionta signed. The two warriors wanted to play together. Gorges stated he may have waived it for Toronto, but that everything started happening so fast & his window to sign with the Sabres was closing.

Bolland's biggest problem is his gimpy back. By the way, Mason Raymond was 'good' last season at $1 million, not 'great'.

You have good sources amigo. Robidas is a nice signing all around. Good dman still for his age as a 4/5 guy. He hits, he is a great teammate and knows how to handle the media. Great leader as well. He will be good in the dressing room for a young team like Toronto.

Adding Polak and Robidas and getting rid of Gleason and Hopefully Franson is a big step forward, plus the fact that Rielly and Gardner will have expanded roles. Now sign Brad Richards on a 3 year deal for 5 mil and lets get the season going! (kidding about Richards, Doc. Althought for 4 mil or less I would take him for 2-3 years but that aint happening)

Just heard the Leafs are closing in on Stephane Robidas.

Leo Komorov, the human pest is back in blue and white baby! Must be he is gonna be given an expanded role on the third line and more minutes on either the PK or PP for that money. A little steep to may that for a 4th line guy so must be the above. We really missed him last season, sooooo glad he is back.

Good last week for Canada's Team, Drafted a high skilled kid and improved defensively overall with Polak/Robidais and Komorov. It seems like a good time to have a "Party" ;)

It's unbelievable how many habs fans are obsessed with the Leafs. They should worry about their crappy Commie team instead, which will lose their two top & only leaders today. :roll eyes:

Practise what you preach, most of your posts are about the Habs who you envy and hate. Tough being a leafs fan with a history of...... Oh don't get me going.

Sorry to hear that Brian Gionta and Josh Gorges are no longer with the Habs. Both good players and the best of luck to the both of them.

Clarkson will be much better this season and got off to a bad start last year.

"Much better" - HA HA HA. He's as crappy as ever and he's a year older. Then again, NO ONE could be worse than this stiff was last year. Well, no one except Phaneuf, anyway.

LAST year you were bragging about how great Clarkson would be. Plus ca change, plus ca reste pareil!

Maple Leafs’ new plan looks like the old plan

It’s an almost unbelievable number. With the Toronto Maple Leafs buying out defenceman Tim Gleason on Monday afternoon, the franchise has now spent $31.5-million on six buyouts since 2008, the equivalent of about 13 players earning a league-average salary.

On average, the other 29 NHL teams have dedicated $9-million over the last seven summers to pay players to not to play for them. That’s less than one-third of what the Leafs gave Gleason, Mikhail Grabovski, Mike Komisarek, Colby Armstrong, Darcy Tucker and Andrew Raycroft to go away.

The title of the article should be ammended to read : "Maple Leafs’ new plan looks like the old plan = FAILURE!"

HILARIOUS...and SO accurate! The woeful, execrable Leafs continue to be the absolute Kings of Comedy!

HAHA, silly canadians, get rid of a very good defenseman in Josh Georges and then sign Tom Gilbert  WOW!

Funny, but for all the years that Josh was a Hab you NEVER referred to him as "a very good defenseman"...but now that he's leaving them you have magically decided to praise him. Sort of like what you do with Leaf "players"...only in reverse.

Robidas would be a good signing for a young Leafs team especailly to help mentor Rielly and Gardner.

Yeah the Leafs really needed another slow old guy on a 3 year contract. He'll be 40 in the final year...that is, if the Leafs don't follow their USUAL STRATEGY of a multi-year signing soon followed by a BUYOUT!

Remind me again, how did the Leafs do in the playoffs last season? Yeah, that's what I thought ...

Please GHG, let's be positive. After all, the Leafs DID make the playoffs ONCE in the past decade. Sure, it was a shortened season so they didn't have time to stage their traditional collapse...but they DID manage to have an EPIC, history-making COLLAPSE in their first-round disappearance.

And also on a positive note: The Leafs DID win the Stanley Cup...way, way, WAY back in 1967. True, they haven't even made it to the finals since then, true, they have never won more than 2 playoff rounds, and true, they are unlikely to EVER again even compete for a Cup, let alone (ha ha ha) win one, but....let's be positive...just like BOTH of their remaining fans. Pass the Koolaid!

The funniest non signing was Erhoff snubbing detroit.

That's funny - most observers thought the funniest was Gorges REFUSING to go to Toronto...followed by the Leafs desperately raiding a seniors residence to sign Robidas.
