It's all tied-up after three periods!!!!!!!!!!

Canada's Marie-Philippe Poulin tied it with the goalie pulled!! They had tied it up with just over 3 minutes to go!!!

Go Canada Go!!! :thumb:

Canada wins it in overtime!!!!!!!!!!!! 3-2 Canada!!!! Second goal of the game by Marie-Philip Poulin!!!! Gold medal, baby!!!!!!!!! Yeah!!!!!!!!!

Epic, epic, epic game!!!!!!!!!! What a comeback!!!!! What heart!!! Canada's Mickelson playing with a broken hand & being a factor in the game!! Great coaching by Kevin Dineen and his timeout with just over a minute left to go in the game was a key!! Go Canada Go!!!!!!!!!

Canadian athletes jumping up & down after the goal was scored!!! The likes of Matt Duchesne jumping up and down and high-fiving the players' families!!! Unbelievable day for Canadian women's hockey!!! :thumb:

The USA women looked like they ran out of gas at the end of regulation and I figured they would lose in OT. It is too bad as they came within less than an inch of an empty net goal with a little over 1 minute left in regulation. Puck hit the post. Anyway a tough way to lose the Gold medal, congrats to Canada for coming back to win.

I agree it was a tough way to lose but if they had of scored the empty net goal what a bogus goal that would have been. I have no idea what the linesmen was thinking. It was about as stupid and as incompetent as it gets. She body checked the canadian defenseman.

I totally agree. The Americans had no business scoring an empty net goal on that play. What a dumb move by the linesman on that play and all hell would have broken loose had the puck not hit that post. Another questionable non-call was on the Wickenheiser breakaway in overtime when a penalty shot should have been called instead of a crosschecking penalty (where was the crosscheck??). I suppose the hockey Gods took over on those two plays that may have changed the outcome of the game.

What a game it was!!! A major heartbreaker if you happen to be an American watching the game, but what total euphoria if you're Canadian!!!

Pretty much as predicted, experience won the day. Two very good teams that handled themselves well. Congrats to Canada. Actually Canada is making a very good showing at these games. Congrats all around.

Now if you can do something about that mayor/moron in Toronto things might be all good....LOL

In hockey terminology it's called 'momentum'. The Canadians gained momentum after scoring their first goal with just over 3 minutes left. Then one of the keys of the game happened a couple of minutes later when Kevin Dineed called a timeout to rest his players and strategerize. They were hungry and would go all out in order to tie the game. The goalie was pulled when the timeout was called and with the man advantage, they scored the tying goal with just under a minute left!!

The Americans got a powerplay in OT, but then got a penalty themselves soon afterwards. They got another break when the referee didn't call a penalty shot when Wickenheiser had a breakaway...but again, the Canucks percevered and got the gold medal-winning goal!

Canada is the more talented team although they have not played like it so far but if the states wins, Quick will have to outplay Price.

Sidney Crosby will have to be an impact player for Canada to prevail over the US. He's generally regarded as the best hockey player on the planet & it's about time he starts showing it. He had a rough Olympics in Vancouver, but came out in the clutch & scored the winning goal in overtime against the US.

I wake up this morning to find out that Canada's picked up a Gold and a Silver in women's freestyle ski cross!!!! Yes!!! :D

I fell in love with the ski cross at the Vancouver Olympics & with the snowboard cross at these Olympics. So much excitement!!! :eyebrows:

I expect Brad Jacob's curling rink to bring another Gold medal for Canada. They're currently leading Great Britain 5-1 after 3 ends. GB's been making awful shots so far and appears to be handing Canada the Gold medal on a silver (or gold?) platter.

And then there's the big game at noon.....Canada vs. USA in men's hockey. I expect that this particular game will be the best game of the men's side of the tournament. Both teams are closely matched and the goaltending for either team might be the deciding factor on whom wins the Gold medal. Yes, i fully expect the winner of this game to beat either Sweden or Finland in the Gold medal game on Sunday.

Later today, i expect Canada to win one or two medals in short track speedskating. And finally, Marie-Michele Gagnon has a chance to medal in the women's giant slalom. She's nearly 2 seconds back from the leader after the first run, but there's still another run left. She's within striking distance to finally win a medal at these Olympics, which have been a disappointment for her so far.

And yes, there's rumours flying all around that some German athlete has failed a drug test & that names will later be released in regards to athletes who failed their tests at the Vancouver & Turin Olympics. The IOC now keeps samples up to 10 years in order to allow for improvements in testing to take effect. It's expected that the failed tests happened in the endurance races (cross-country, biathlon) and in the bobsled events.

Elite athletes being on steroids, what a shocker. I am a realist and i believe the majority of top athletes in both the summer and winter olympics plus professional sports that require speed and strength dope, they just haven't been caught yet. Them and there connections stay one step ahead of the tests. They all have one thing in common even if they are caught and that's deny, deny, deny.

I'm also convinced the majority of defensive players in the NFL are on something or were when they were in college. You just can't get that big naturally and be able to run a sprint. I'm sure there are many hockey players (especially enforcers) that are on something. I blame the leagues....way too many games and almost no time for the body to recuperate. Injured players are rushed to return and the quickest way for them to recover from an injury is to use HGH, which in my opinion should be legal for everyone due to its health benefits. I mean, if the technology is out there in order to make us feel better and younger, why not legalize for everyone?

In baseball, i'm certain many baseball players use the medication adderall in order to focus much better. I once used it for an exam and it's crazy how great my memory (and focus) was on that day. I got 98% on an exam where the 2nd highest mark was 86%.

Curling is not a sport so much as it is a game. It is similar to shuffleboard and horseshoes, which are not Olympic sports. Curling is in the Olympics probably because it is a way for Canada to beef up its medal count. I don't really have a problem with events being added but if you really want to be fair about it, then add shuffleboard and horsehoes and darts as Olympic events.
