Police crackdown on Merb: Only a matter of Time?

We all know that the police routinely check Merb and the other board to see if any minors are working at the agencies. I am all for this and I wish there was an anonymous way of informing LE of any agency peddling minors (you can't post suspiscions on Merb).

I was talking to an agency owner before and he told me that he thinks that it's only a matter of time before the cops shut down Merb. What do you think?

I am not fear mongering here. I do not think the cops care about horny idiots posting reviews about ladies unless she's a minor. But cops will shut it down if the politicians get involved and see it as a way to score points with the public that is fed up with the sex industry in Montreal.

I tend to agree with Karma, that it is in the police's best interest to keep these sites alive, just like the forums that give access to pedophiles. You can collect all the scum in one site and nab them.

GG, you seem to have started in this hobby about a year ago. I don't know if you remember the Journal de Montreal articles on "La Route du Sexe". These articles gave tons of details and raised fears of LE busting FS strip clubs. It has been a year and half now and still no busts. Main reason: there is a golden rule for these clubs: no minors, no drugs equal no problems.

Montreal LE already has its hands full with other problems like street gangs(and remember the war isn't started yet).

I would evaluate the risks to low, very very low.

Very valid points and you're right, street gangs are proliferating in Montreal.

Like LeGuy said we still have some time considering they havent did anyting after the article in journal de montreal... I deal with a company in amsterdam who buy my content (livecam show) and usa tried several time to close down their site because some of the models (not one from my studios) do some illegal shit if you are based in usa... and they contacted local authorities couple time to have the site shut down (you know americans think they can run the whole world) and the local police told them to fuck off cause thoses shit were legal down there... Also there`s LOTS of illegal online pharmacy that US try to close down for year and at latest news they are still up because they are hosted in country like china, panama and UK (yeah UK).

Actually the only thing that make country move for the internet is child porn, fraud (phishing in most case) and virus-botnet. Spam is a most serious matter than merb and to give you a good example I got this site by spam like 5 month ago and it`s still up they seem selling fake rolex etc and they havent shutted down the site: www.abcofrockingnet.com I`m getting such spam every day and site seem not going down... so I would be very surprise they take care of merb because I see nothing illegal here and if someone would do it he would have his account closed down and the thread deleted within an hour....

LeGuy actually a country cant block access to a certain site... there`s some many route on the internet that it would be impossible to make it atm the way internet is done... and if this would append you would simply need such service: (wilko decided to remove url myself cause its not a tool for kids) to access the site... because it`s do a relay (and hide your real ip at same time) by using a proxy software.

As far as I understand, LE in Canada has no jurisdiction whatsoever over what other countries can and cannot do.

Unless they have signed a treaty and the action is illegal in the other country also then something can be negotiated. Otherwise it's not an issue!

This is one of the reasons it is impossible to prosecute spam emailers.

Can a country block access to a specific server? It would be WAY faster than closing a site in another country. There was some talk of blocking the native on-line gaming sites. I know anonymizers exits but for the average Joe Bloe blocking access is enough ..

Is this not what China does to block all those 'subversive' websites about Democracy, Falun Gong, and how tigers are going extinct because of the retarded belief their penises are an aphrodisiac.
