Don't feel bad Panthere, I don't understand it either. And English is my first language... I don't know what it means to be a bat; I've never heard that expression before?

Post count is a good way flush out phonies like the notorious unemployed troll that hacks into accounts that have been dormant from 2006 and then starts infiltrating the board.
Also, newbies have a certain decorum. They come off a little shy. You can tell by the tone and the style that it is not really a newbie but one of our infamous and pathetic unemployed trolls.

I seem to recall a user named pat le bat or something to that effect. For a moment I was thinking he was talking about that guy.

Sometimes a newbie is just someone who is back with another account. I am on my third terb incarnation [requested deletion for the first, requested deletion which somehow became a voluntary permaban for the second] I figure another 7 or 8 incarnations and I'll get myself a Tardis. When I come back under a new ID I am all decked out in scarves, fezes, bowties and the Allons-Y.

Also someone who is a lurker might not come off shy.

Also some of us [oh! oh! me] just are not the shy type.

Also what is wrong with being a pathetic unemployed troll. As a pathetic unemployed ogre I must take offense at that on behalf of my regenerating bretheren. I think I will visit the human rights commison office in the swamp with donkey. He is always up for a walk.

I do it for fun and it is useful for new encounters with different girls. People are different from each others, and sometimes an SP will be comfortable with a certain type of man and won't work with me. It is a good base for new meets with an SP. ( excuse my English) A007

Panthere,

It's a very interesting question in principle. However, I don't think the contest was about post counts as it was far more often about trying to out debate an opponent during a discussion, which could become addictive as well as heated and become pontless shouting matches. The one thing I always hated about so-called discussions was the failure to listen or be willing to see the sense of an opponent. I remember having some tough battles with Techman, but in the end we usually could accept some kind of common ground. It was painfully obvious some were never going to give an inch on the other's points and then it wasn't about anything but trying to beat down the other guy, sometimes not caring about insults or scruples at all. The Quitter was infamous for that. But it was never about post counts.
