Legault is actually a repeat of Maurice Duplessis. According to the polls poples main concern is healthcare and the rising cost of living and much less about nationalism and identity. Instead Legault stirred up pot creating more division to hold on to the PQ votes, he focused on Nationalism and Bill 96 (which will be very detrimental to Quebec internationally for business). The bill essentially give the language police more powers then regular police (they will have the right to search companies just on suspicions and seize company computers). Which company will want to remain in Quebec knowing that their company info can be seized at anytime? The exodus has already begun.

That is no different then autocracy people should be very concerned about this kind of authoritarianism. For 45 years we lived in language harmony and now Legault is starting a war at the expense of Anglophones. None of these things will do anything to make French more dominant. Fact is Trudeau made a pact with the Indians and is bringing hundred thousands of them and they do not speak French. They are so many of them in Montreal and Legault got concerned with that. Legault is clashing with Trudeau because Legault is not down with Trudeau's idea of multiculturalism. Also to add Quebec is the only place in North America that is French, they cannot avoid English especially where business is concerned and to add the people like American movies and music which is all in English.
Legault likes to use the Notwithstanding Clause, we know he likes to rule by decree. These past two years proved how authoritarian he is, we had the strictest covid mandates and were the only place in North America that had a curfew. Trudeau and the justice ministers job is to uphold the constitution, Bill 96 violates the constitution. In justice everyone is entitled to be served in both English and French, in healthcare where health is concerned everyone is entitled to have service in English or French. Do not expect Trudeau to do much, he has proven to have no spine. However he denied Quebec to have full immigration control because Trudeau wants mass immigration (more immigrants give him control of parliament that is how he keeps on winning).
In 1988 the PLQ tried to pass Bill 178 where all public and commercial signs would be in French only. Since it violated the constitution the bill was thrown out. If Bill 96 does go to the Supreme Court then Trudeau will have to uphold the constitution. This will probably open up a Pandora's Box. Legault has been a disaster yet people keep on voting for him because he is stirring the people up pushing for Nationalism and of course buying votes with that $500 check.
In December 1988 the Liberal government of Québec introduced Bill 178, an Act to amend Bill 101, Charte de la langue française....
