Melina Roberge pleaded guilty yesterday. Her sentencing will happen in a few weeks. She could get life imprisonment but my guess is that she'll get 5-7 years.
Isabelle Lagacé pleaded guilty a few weeks ago and got 7.5 years. Melina Roberge waited like 3 days before her trial was set to start (feb 26) to plead guilty.
The prosecutors had to prepare for the trial, spent hours preparing their case, expenses like witnesses, possibly flying some to Australia,etc.
I would be surprised if she'd get a smaller sentence then 7.5 years.
Honestly what she told the Court it sounds somewhat believable. It also validates the speculation that the plan all along was for her to pose as a Sugar Baby for some unknown Sugar Daddy.
If the Lagace statement to the prosecution is in accord with this, which I suspect it is, she will get a lighter sentence than Lagace. She could be out of jail before she is age 30

Sounds like she will do the minimum 4.5 years and get out before she turns 30, so not a terrible result although it will be official March 28.
That affidavit that was read in Court sounds like it was drafted by a young junior prosecutor and certainly not by Roberge or her attorneys.
She mentions that her "Sugar Daddy" operated an escort agency and although she did not identify him in Court, I have to believe she identified him to the authorities.
It's now pretty clear that Tamine was, like Roberge, just a stooge in all of this. Most likely he was the unemployed Uncle or Great-Uncle of one of the principals and they brightly realized a trip to Australia would give the down on his luck Uncle Andre something to do.

A woman incarcerated in Canada costs taxpayers an average of 211 618 $ per year. Why should we pay for someone who knew what she was getting into, and tried to smuggle drugs in a foreign country?
Melina Roberge was handed down an eight year sentence but minimum 4 years and 9 months before eligible for parole review.
Lagace sentence was 7.5 years around the same before eligible for parole review.

The girls have zero sympathy from me. Just because they look hot doesn't make them less guilty.
One of them is 24 and received a 8 year prison term. She may get out sooner, but even if she has to serve the full term she will be 34 yrs old when she gets out. I doubt if she can return to Quebec if she wants to be a SP, and who knows what the hobbying landscape will look like then.
