Lately, I've been thinking a lot about the future with AI, and drones and robots, and I'm really trying to figure out my next move... My workplace has already started leveraging AI, and my position is especially fragile. I am the only french speaking employee in my team, working remote for an American-based, globally présent company where the French volume is 1% of work... So as soon as they find themselves a good translation system, they won't need me...

Also because of the french part, I am limited to my growth in the company. Being that my position was grandfathered when they merged our QC operations, they won't hire anyone to replace me, so I have to ensure this 1% of french gets done, I can't get promoted to other positions....

So yeah, anyone hiring or know of awesome side hustles? LoL

Man, that sucks. There should be some kind of law to protect people where like, a boss can't legally replace you with AI if you've been working at this company for x time lol

I've had such a great summer with tons of awesome bookings! I'm really happy about that and I want it to never end.. However, I haven't had a duo in a while, and I haven't been booked for social time in a while :) Reminder that social time doesn't have to mean going on an expensive dinner date! It can be going for lunch, going for a few drinks, going to see a movie, or even just hanging out at the park for a cute picnic. What's been on my mind lately is that I want to limit my social media use a bit, because it can get addictive, but I still want to be present. It's a difficult balance to achieve.

Cancelling/rescheduling (then cancelling again lol) with a merb advertiser and then writing a review for someone else that you saw during the time frame you initially booked the other person is... certainly a choice.

It might come as a surprise to some but we can see your posting history, guys. You can't tell us "I have to cancel because I won't be coming to town or won't have time for an hour with you" but then turn around and write a review about a two hour booking on the same day with another girl and expect us to never notice lol

Yes it totally sucks and is a horrible position to be in but there is always another side to it.
Company owners and shareholders are in it to make money not to please people it is not a charity they are running but a business.
It is up to people to adapt and reeducate reform their capabilities in order to be successful and to be thought after.

You make your own luck in life and luckily we live in a free country where your opportunities are limitless and you can sculpt your life and future to your advantage.

Agreed, except AI will soon be able to do absolutely everything humans can do. Just for cheaper. So with that logic, everyone could be out of a job tomorrow, even the most skilled employee within the company. Why pay a very skilled employee when AI can do the same job for free and faster! Which is why I think there needs to be some protection somewhere. I don't want the majority of people to end up homeless because robots take over. Haha

Opportunities won't be limitless if companies start firing everyone who is a human being because human labor costs more than AI in the long run

I understand your worry and sure hope that doesn’t happen but I tend to be way more optimistic.

I am sure this very thing was being said when electricity was invented and automated CNC machines robots, computers etc…. the list is endless through history and yet we are still all here and the population just keeps growing.

I am more worried about the nature of man and its ever growing need for power and control and that eventually some radical government or lunatic dictator will trigger a nuclear war that very few will survive.

“My grandma just died”

Unrelated but one time, a client told me his wife had just died. The plot twist here is that this was the reason he was booking me, not cancelling.

A little awkward.

I never realized I could add a banner picture (not just a profile picture) to my merb profile until now lol

That is kind of a valid reason with a reasonable time lapse of a couple of years, but still I wouldn’t give that as a reason to the SP, kind of awkward for everyone.
Of course if she died a couple of days ago then it is horrible and even more awkward.

Which you best of luck.
I don’t know why, it reminds me my father once had an ice delivery job.
