Just read that Joe Beef got in the top 5 in Canada, did a search here but too many replies with beef in it and stopped after going back 10 pages.
I checked online and the menu and prices are good, anyone tried the place?

STN Joe Beef is great. So is toque. But my personnal favorite is Club Chasse et Peche in old montreal. If you ask the best
chef in Montreal where they like to eat out, this place will probably come often.

cheers

I have treid to go twice but both times the person I was going with did not like the menu. Need to find someone who likes wild meat.

Not the best place for Vegan for sure haha Last time there I ate white fish served with a topping of fois gras in a chicken broth. Seems weird. It was just perfectly delicious.

To be honest once you have tried the beef in Alberta you find pretty much all east canadian steak house kind of blank...

If really in need of a steakhouse because colleagues/friends/family want's to go I make it to Gibby's or Queue de Cheval if you really like prime age (and do not mind paying the equivalent of a month's mortgage ;) ).

Cheers,

A special place where they only offer a tasting menu.
You choose 5 or 7 course and the rest is up to them.

We had a 5 course which was more than enough.
Each dish was excellently presented and very tasty

Caution, it is very small...
Only one table for 6-8 people
The rest are tables for 2 or at the bar.

Excellent experience,
Excellent food
Excellent service

Will retun

Thanks. Not for friends/family. Just for me being from out of town. I usually checkout the independent places whether it be Peter Lugers in NYC, Burns in Tampa etc.

Having been living in trendy Griffintown for the last little while, I decided to try a neighborhood place (twice) in the last 6 months or so.

First i went with a amazing young lady after a night of planning for her party and the first thing i noticed was what a big resto this is in the building adjacent to the Alt hotel. It is tucked away upstairs and is very big and hip with a great vibe of music and chic surroundings and like i mentioned it is spacious, very nice looking place.

My friend had penne with rose sauce and she said it was very good. I had the Tagliatelle AI Funghi Selvaggi and it was fantastico! http://industriapizzeria.com/en/menu/tagliatelle-ai-funghi-selvaggi-20/?resto=montreal-griffintown Warm bread and dipping oil was served first and was great as well.

The second trip i wanted to try their specialty pizza's they are supposed to be famous for but lets be real, finding amazing pizza in Montreal is hard to do, and the search continues because while it was good, it was nothing like great pizza should be, especially for $19 to what is basically a little bigger than a normal personal size pizza. BUT and this is a huge BUT, the Gnocchi Poutine was out of this world delicious! For $13 you sure do not get much but it was heavenly to say the least. http://industriapizzeria.com/en/menu/gnocchi-poutine-13/?resto=montreal-griffintown

The place is very hiip just like trendy Griffintown and is a perfect place for cocktails with friends after work and good Italian food and appetizers. Be prepared to spend $200 plus for two with salad, apps, main course and a decent bottle of wine.

Would i repeat? No for the pizza, Yes for the gnocchi poutine and pasta and for the hip vibes for drinks with friends or for a nice date.

Enjoy :)

Iggy,

You're looking for great pizza? Try Pizzeria Gema in little Italy.

Key word "was" as it is almost cycling season and once that starts i will not be having poutine or pizza much anymore lol....

I will check it out on a "cheat" day maybe :)

Thanks!

Fully agree with the Alberta beef. Between Gibbys and Queue de Cheval I would rather go to Gibbys, found the service not as stuck up and the steaks were actually better.
Gibbys dinner for two usually runs around $250 for me which is not horrible.

I tried out Gibby's once..I thought it was ok. The best steak I've ever had in my life was in the city of Kobe in Japan. I still think about that meal to this day

Joe Beef, highly overrated. Been once and never again. I really don't understand the 3 month wait. Better food and services at Gibby's, 40 Westt, Queue de Cheval, Keg, Moishe's etc... Joe Beef is definitely last on the list.

Julia, Grinder! (in Griffintown)

Guys I'm back with another request.

Recently I've found myself going to a certain bar a few times and I liked their menu - was the first time I actually ate food in a bar lol. I liked the idea. I don't go out a lot because I have no interest in just drinking and lustening to music surrounded with strangers and drunk friends and believe it or not I suck at socializing when it comes to real life LOL... But add food in the whole thing and I'm interested suddenly.

So anyone has recommandations for a bar/club where they serve food - and good one at that ? Stripclubs welcome too lol...

Thanks ''buddies !''

The best steak I've ever had in my life was in the city of Kobe in Japan.

Queue de Cheval has their version of Kobe beef from Australia, the waiter came out with a wooden platter with three steaks on it, one was rib eye, one filet mignon and the other ( forget the name but was explained it was like Kobe ), he said the cows were massaged for 4 hrs a day and listened to classical music ( I was waiting for a punch line but it was not a joke ), anyways, $50 for the Filet and $135 for the brand X. I asked if the brand X was 3 times better than the filet and he said no. Two filets with a lobster tail ( huge, about the size of my foot and we split it ) with a couple of drinks and a bottle of wine was $450 tip included. Waiter was stuck up, service was sub par, will not return.

Restaurant advice sought

I'm planning a trip to Montreal in early June, probably staying at the Gouverneur.
Can anyone recommend a couple of very nice restaurants to take a young lady out for good food/atmosphere?
Has to be within walking distance.
Many thanks, in advance
