Chez Serge! I think my buddy Rumples mentioned that place to me one time. It would be fun to watch a game there, but i'm an anti-habs fan so maybe there could be some tension in the air. ;)

Many years ago, i was corresponding with a great girl named 'Emma'. We corresponded in english first, then switched to french when we both learned we were both french. One day, she suggested we should finally meet. I agreed and it was going to be a 2-hour date. She ended up staying 4 hours, but that's not important. Anyways, she shows up and we greet one another. She looked disappointed. I asked her why and she replied she was under the impression i was older. She was used to older clients and was more comfortable with them since 'it didn't hit home as much'. Fine. I then asked her if she preferred we interact in french, but to my surprise she told me she wanted to keep our discussion in english since again, speaking french would 'hit home' too much and she always spoke english with her clients. She feared not being able to cope if we spoke french. Strange, but i went along with it. And the entire evening was spent speaking in english to one another, with each of us speaking with our french accents. To be honest, i found the whole thing kind of silly.

A few days later, she invited me for lunch at Chez Alexandre. I arrived a couple of minutes late since there was a problem with my reservation at the Vogue. She called me and asked me why i was running late. I told her i wasn't yet late, i still had a minute left and was on my way and would be there in 2-3 minutes. When i walked in, she looked visibly upset. I asked her in english if she was upset, and she snapped at me (in french) and told me she didn't feel like speaking english since she wasn't working and told me to speak french. She added that she was under some stress and didn't feel like speaking in english that day. She also made it known that she didn't appreciate being stood up and no one ever ad. I told her "Jesus Christ!! I'm only 2 minutes late!!!!" We never spoke in english to one another again. I never told her that i had found it pretty silly to speak to one another in english when both of us spoke mostly french in our personal lives.

In the Euphoria thread I was asked to mention a good chinese restaurant near Euphoria incal location.

It's restaurant Wing Fa (http://wingfa.ca), on Avenue du parc, just north of Sherbrooke. Been going there for years! It's a very simple yet just great down to earth place.

After that meal I can have a nice wine at the Pullman nearby, or I have a very nice walk (1-2 kilometer) all the way up avenue du parc north to Buvette à Simone. You prefer beer? you can walk a bit further north and turn on Laurier to go to Dieux du Ciel. Hockey game that night? As describe above you can walk a bit further on St-Laurent to Chez Serge. This is one of the area I like the most, much better than downtown or Old Montreal.

Cheers,

I like Casa Corfu (buffet).

And for those of you who like burgers and Mexican food, you should definitely try Twisted Burger in the south shore. Ooooohhhhhh yummy.

I can confirm that Wing Fa is pretty good. I ate there on my last trip.

Funny I was thinking of this thread and turns out it wasn't hard to find it since it was bumped today. Lol !

Being a huge fan of chicken and craving fried chicken lately, I would like any suggestions on where to eat the best fried chicken in town. Or any chicken for that matter but lately I want to eat fried chicken SO bad!

Deville Dinerbar, which is my favorite downtown restaurant and I have reviewed it many times in this thread, serves a Southern Fried Chicken salad which I have had and is pretty good. It seems like they just do Southern Fried Chicken on salad and not as an entree, but you can ask. I like their salads a lot:

I checked the website, the place seems great. When I go to a place where there are ribs and mac n cheese I have a hard time choosing, because as much as I adore meat, I'm also a sucker for m&c, and seems they offer a short-rib & Mac n cheese combo. I might just have to go there. Thanks for the suggestion !

Deville Dinerbar has a very good eclectic menu which includes classic "hearty" type fare like ribs and mac n cheese, as well as new wave fusion like the Seoul Food Lettuce Tacos, which combines Asian and Mexican cuisines. They also have great Happy Hour Drink specials and will serve double alcohol drinks at special prices during Happy Hour. They make really good Mojitos and will supersize or superinfuse them, (your choice) during Happy Hour. They also play a lot of 1980s music like Flock of Seagulls and Spandau Ballet.

Look behind you.
Just read that Joe Beef got in the top 5 in Canada, did a search here but too many replies with beef in it and stopped after going back 10 pages.
I checked online and the menu and prices are good, anyone tried the place?

joe beef is good, but more then a tad hyped, and is better in the summer food wise i find. their sister resto vin papillon is just next door and is great, and a tad more casual, and you won't have to book 3 months in advance to get a table. it's walk in only.

Guys I'm back with another request.

Recently I've found myself going to a certain bar a few times and I liked their menu - was the first time I actually ate food in a bar lol. I liked the idea. I don't go out a lot because I have no interest in just drinking and lustening to music surrounded with strangers and drunk friends and believe it or not I suck at socializing when it comes to real life LOL... But add food in the whole thing and I'm interested suddenly.

So anyone has recommandations for a bar/club where they serve food - and good one at that ? Stripclubs welcome too lol...

Thanks ''buddies !''
