Noobie here considering partaking in the hobby in Montreal with independent and agency SPs in and outcalls alike. What are the risks with the law am I being exposed to? What should I avoid?

Only go with reviewed SPs (agencies, spas, or indies) for your first 5-10 encounters. Mention to the girls that you are new to the hobby, and generally, well-reviewed women will do their best to make sure you are comfortable. You don't have to worry about laws here as long as you are well within your limits.

here are some good guidelines to book. Here are some guidelines on how to proceed.

Unless you are a pedophile chasing very young girls, you won’t be busted.
You have way more chances to be scammed than busted but then again if you rely on on advices from last comment, risks are near zero.

What should I avoid?

Ads that look too good to be true; low prices for a lot of services promised, photos of a girl that could be internet famous with very low rates

It could either be someone attempting to scam, someone attempting to arrest you or someone attempting to rob you.

Always cross verify information if you’re new to this, your instincts won’t be as good as some of the veterans here. You might fall into a trap. Like the other users say, stick to the people that have been talked about positively on here while you get comfortable then explore.

what about agencies like Euphoria? I think they are pretty reputable yet they provide incall services. Does that mean they have a fixed location and in such a case subject to police raids? I see many reviews on Euphoria girls on here.

I was also curious about the Asian agencies. It seems to me that over the years most of the police raid news feature Asian agencies due to human trafficking. Should I avoid those?

Law enforcement usually target places or people that could hide minors. Shady places posting photos of women looking awfully young or more prone to that. I don’t see that on Euphoria’s website.

You’d have to be very unlucky for it to happen to you

If you see an advertisement on Merb (whether from individuals or agencies) and it has mostly positive reviews, you don't have to worry about anything. Just discuss your requirements, timings, and location. Since you're new to this, I don't recommend using the Leolist website, as it is more prone to scams.

You don't have to avoid them due to raids, but I would suggest avoiding them initially because they mostly use fake photos. For the same reason avoid spas too.

If you can spare the extra expense for the first time, go to a well-reputed independent provider and book a 90-minute or 2-hour session. That way, you will be eased into the session.

The raids might have something to do with the girls being foreigners working here illegaly.
And if the agency staff arranged for the girls to travel here in the first place, that might be considered human trafficking.

Yeah, I see many reviews here that mentions Asian MP or agencies with SPs who don't speak a lick of english and they had to use translator to communicate. In my mind the likelihood of these women being brought here on some tourist visa that expired long ago and perhaps even had their passport confiscated by their pimps is probably non trivial.

All the advice here is excellent. I agree with the above suggestion that you let your date know that you're new at the game. Obviously, when you contact either an agency or an indie, be cool and don't link pleasure and payment. (It's not that you'll be busted; it's that you'll look like an idiot.) I've indulged in 20+ NA cities, and Montreal is *by far* the best and most relaxed! Enjoy!

Is it common to use your real phone number with an agency? I plan to do so, but being from the states I have second guessed this on a couple occasions.
Also, is it better to call or text ?

A lot of agencies will not book you if you use a fake phone number. Please text them, they are very busy and cannot always pick up the phone. It will also be easier by text messages for clarity

I strongly disagree. Your initial contact with an agency should be with a phone call. It's more personal and it allows both you and the agency to establish a relationship. If you need to communicate after making a date, then text messages are fine.

When you call, you should tell the booker your first name, where you're staying and who you would like to see, for how long and at about what time.

You should have done some research in advance and planned your day so that you already know these things. Don't just call and say something like "Who's available?"

You should also have a backup plan-a second or third choice of time and/or girl. The more flexible you are, the more your chance of getting a girl and time that suit you. If you are not happy with what the booker offers, then just politely inform him/her that you want to check with another agency and you might call back. Then check elsewhere if you want and if you decide to go with the first agency's offering, then call back ASAP. But one way or another try to make your booking during the morning hours when you will have the greatest number of choices.

Once you have booked an encounter, the booker may communicate with you about the date, e.g., to slightly change the time or something. Assuming nothing changes, the booker should text you when the girl is close to arriving and/or she arrives at your hotel. If your hotel uses key cards for the elevator, then you should have mentioned this during the booking and reminded the booker to text you when the girl arrives so that you can go down to the lobby to meet her.

Meeting the girl in the lobby is NO PROBLEM. You will recognize her immediately based on the fact that you have her description and she will be the only attractive girl standing or sitting by herself who fits the description. You say hi to her, tell her your first name and you get in the elevator--the whole process takes less than 30 seconds and NO ONE WILL BE WATCHING YOU OR CARES AT ALL THAT YOU ARE MEETING SOMEONE: THAT'S WHAT HOTEL LOBBIES ARE FOR!!!

The rest is up to you. Have fun!

I agree with this. This board has long been filled with useless threads that cycle fear unnecessarily, needlessly discourage others, and which the Mods should delete. This thread, but to a much greater extent the other one called "Escort Friendly hotels"- which has long been a JOKE- are largely fueled by inexperienced people who either rarely hobby, rarely stay at hotels or generally have not much experience with escorts. Although the Mods generally do a good job, the latter thread is a classic examples of what happens when the "inmates are allowed to run the asylum." The posters totally overstate risks, perpetuate fear, mistrust, paranoia, and irrationality, and manifest distorted views of how others perceive them and/or escorts. This song is devoted to them:
Met a girl called Lola and I took her back to my place
Feeling guilty, feeling scared, hidden cameras everywhere
Stop! Hold on, stay in control
Girl, I want you here with me
But I'm really not as cool as I'd like to be
'Cause there's a red under my bed
And there's a little yellow man in my head
And there's a true blue inside of me
That keeps stopping me, touching ya, watching ya, loving ya
Paranoia, the destroyer
Paranoia, the destroyer
Well I fell asleep, then I woke feeling kinda queer
Lola looked at me and said, "Ooh, you look so weird"
She said, "Man, there's really something wrong with you
One day you're gonna self-destruct"
You're up, you're down, I can't work you out
You get a good thing going, then you blow yourself out
Silly boy, ya self-destroyer
Silly boy, ya self-destroyer
Silly boy, you got so much to live for
So much to aim for, so much to try for
You blowing it all with paranoia
You're so insecure, you self-destroyer
Paranoia, the destroyer
(Here it goes again)
Paranoia, the destroyer
Doctor, doctor, help me please, I know you'll understand
There's a time device inside of me, I'm a self-destructin' man
There's a red under my bed
And there's a little green man in my head
And he said, "You're not going crazy, you're just a bit sad
'Cause there's a man in ya, gnawing ya, tearing ya into two"
Silly boy, ya self-destroyer
Paranoia, the destroyer
Self-destroyer, wreck your health
Destroy your friends, destroy yourself
The time device of self-destruction
Light the fuse and start eruption
Paranoia, the destroyer
(Here's to paranoia)
Paranoia, the destroyer
(Hey, hey, here it goes)
Paranoia, the destroyer
(And it goes like this)
Paranoia, the destroyer
(And it goes like this)

I thought this too on my first trip to MTL last year but every agency I called immediately sent me a text telling me to text rather than call. I’ve heard that sometimes bookers at Vog and Joe at Sensation will request a call to vibe-check you if you’re a new client trying to book a certain SP (e.g., someone brand new to the industry). Up until now, I haven’t spoken to anyone on the phone at any of the five agencies I regularly use (though I did have a lengthy text convo with Joe before booking Ashley) and I’d say I’m treated pretty well by all of them.

Phone calls are not ideal for high volume agencies. It’s not a call centre, text messages are more efficient for them.

Are you a booker for a "high volume agency" (whatever that means)? I don't think so. You seem to be an indy who used to work for an agency. I can understand why you prefer text messages and/or emails for an initial contact because you can take your time in responding.

But you don't have the experience of being either a booker or a client so I don't see why your opinion is well-informed. I'm speaking with the experience of being a long time client of well-known agencies (I never use indies). It's better to make the initial contact with a phone call to an agency.

You may occasionally get no answer, but wait a few minutes and call back. The bookers always answer the phone the first or second time you try. As I stated, you should be prepared to book a specific girl on your first call, but if the girl or time you want is not available then you can talk to the booker, feel out who might be available and assess what is the supply/demand situation for the agency that day.

I'm not saying that you should never make your initial contact by text. Obviously some guys do that and it can work fine if you're a known client and you know exactly who you want. It can work OK for others too but I don't think an unknown client gets the best service by sending a text, especially from a non Canadian number.

It's not the concern of the client that the booker is is really "busy" and wants to be "efficient" (text messages are not always the most efficient way to communicate anyway). It's up to the agency to have a system to field calls, interact with clients, answer questions, offer alternatives and book appointments. If the agency can't manage to do that with politeness and efficiency, then try a different agency.

And as I stated clearly, using text for follow-up communications is normal. Call first, then text if necessary.
