Exactly. I think the negotiation will go something like this:
Russian Military Negotiator: We have Kharkiv and Kiev surrounded and we think you should surrender unconditionally. If you do, we will allow you and your family to flee the country unharmed.
Zelensky: We are not surrendering. We demand that you withdraw. If you withdraw, we will promise not to join NATO.
Russian Military Negotiator: Unconditional surrender, and you live. No other deal.
Zelensky: Withdraw and we will not join NATO.

Good job, Putin! Now you pissed off the Germans - they're going to inject 100 BILLION euros into their armed forces this year (normal yearly spending: 50B euros). This is a 1 time increase, but still very sizable.
Maybe Trump was right about Putin being a "genius" - he has unified the western nations against him, and now even Finland and Sweden may be joining NATO.

Russia’s bonds are now “junk” by S&P, and Russian economy is in collapse. Even China is cutting their lines of credit.
Russia will use more vicious tactics to speed up the war. They cannot finance a war of attrition. Expect mass bombardment of civilian populations, flamethrowers, helicopters going after refugees…all the stuff Putin already did in Syria, Georgia, Chechnya, etc.

It will become increasing difficult to send weapons to the Ukraine and risks a wider conflict.
