The answer is simple...When the U.S.and the West decide to place a total embargo (sanctions) of Russian Oil and Natural Gas exports! There are no sanctions that have been placed on Russian energy exports.
The irony and hypocrisy of the Americans is that Biden is putting sanctions on access to Swift, confiscation of yachts, and other meaningless crap!
Right now Russian Oil and Gas is still flowing to export markets and it's business as usual!!
This is not Iraq where the Americans can just take out the ruling government and simply walk into Ukraine and Russia...pillage everything that is $$$ related to them like rats and steal the oil and gas which is what the Americans really care about...and then make believe they are the saviours of the population! If there's a buck in it for them then they'll do it!
It goes to show the Ukrainian people are being held hostage from all directions!.....Money talks, bullshit walks!

I think comparing Putin to Trump is like comparing a tiger to a cow. 100% correct - but the problem is not so much the US as the EU, which is far more dependent on these exports. The EU is comprised of and led by spoiled, sissified pussies who are afraid to tell their constituents that they may have to suffer a little bit in the short term in order to cause the Russians to totally rethink what they are doing.

Seriously? That is a very dishonest shortcut with no perspective at all. The reality is that europe has been the theater of the largest wars of modern history, some 6000 miles from the USA. Needless to say, the US territory never ever felt any threath upon its population.
Lets start with some numbers here, numbers only account for military losses.
WW1
estimated total death toll: 10 millions
estimated USA death toll: 116 000
WW2
estimated total death toll: +60 millions of which 28 millions for the USSR army, the biggest war sacrifice ever, it is said that, by including civilians death, the USSR lost 10% of its population!
estimated USA death toll: 416 000
Now at the end of both wars it was naturally established, that all european countries economy we're a total wreckage. The only economy that showed growth was the american's, due to the ability for the military industries to react and jump on the opportunity to expand. In the USA. The equation war= business took a major turn right there.
Europe was left counting and burying their death and planning to rebuild. USA saw another good opportunity to "help", sending equipment, material, manpower etc. Remember, nothing comes for free in this world. So they bargain their help for more access to european market and other stuff and also supplying ($$$$), lots of weapons and other military equipment to rebuild europe's defense.
So are europeans just a bunch of sissies? Maybe they are just more aware of the real price to pay when it comes to major conflicts going on in a high population concentration. They have much more to lose than you can imagine.
As for the USA, war is still business and strictly business. Forget about defending liberties, democracy, civil rights. That is all bs to justify the ongoing of a well implanted politics/industry association that seems to fill everybody's pockets.

Total bullshit. It's because the cream of the crop of every country in the world comes here to our universities to get educated and then stays here to make money. And it's been that way for generations. We also have the cream of every University in the world that gets recruited by domestic companies. I have observed it first hand. The talent in the tech world all flocks to the USA which is why our economy has flourished and because we have a better work ethic than the Europeans who are lazy, take 3 hour lunches and work 20-30 hours per week. Talent and work ethic of a nation is what builds its economy and that's why Japan has the economic power it has (in case you forgot they were also devastated by WW II).
