There can be no doubt that Biden's perceived weakness as a leader emboldened Putin to invade Ukraine. The only question now is where Putin will stop, since it's clear to him that he has a cast of Neville Chamberlain-like appeasers arrayed against him. I say the Baltic States are next. Putin subscribes to the theory of lebensraum, which means Russia needs living space.
It appears Trump supporters are rather forgetful, like their hero. Didn't Russia take the first step in annexing Ukraine's Crimean peninsula while he was president?This invasion would not have happened if Trump were still President.
Please explain why Putin wouldn't invade what's left of Ukraine under Trump, as the latter has hailed the former as a genius for doing so.
I actually feel sorry for the Russian hockey players for the reasons you mentioned. Many of them are probably very upset by Putin's actions but don't speak out because as mentioned above, their wives and kids will drink radioactive tea or perhaps "accidentally" fall out of windows to their deaths. There are a lot of Russian superstars in the NHL and the Rangers have two of them, Panarin and Shesterkin, who is the best goalie in the NHL bar none. Panarin has in the past gotten in trouble for his criticism of the Russian government (see link below), while Shesterkin rarely says anything and lets his play do the talking as it speaks very loudly.
