It is what it is. Russians have decided to reduce urban warfare and instead rely on non stop artillery barrages (60,000 shells a day!) to push the advance & reduce the cities to demolition sites. The question is can they keep it up - it took them over 2 months to capture 2 small cities in the east.

And recently the new Western rocket systems are wreaking havoc on the ammo dumps previously far beyond reach.

Russian forces are pounding Sloviansk with "massive" shelling, its mayor said on Tuesday, as the eastern Ukrainian city becomes Moscow's next target in its campaign in the Donbas region.

[paraphrased]

Russia: I'll kill all of you f*cks if you don't let me kill these people

The mistake of the Putin’s clique is that they think that they are Russia. Eventually they will be delivered to the Hague by the very same Russian people, and no nukes will save them. The only problem is that they may be delivered in the hanged upside down position like Mussolini.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with United States Senators Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal who represent the Republican and Democratic parties of the United States.

The Head of State thanked the senators for the visit to our country and for the strong tangible support from the USA in times of tremendous challenges related to Russian aggression.

"Bicameral and bipartisan support is really important for Ukraine. We feel it, we feel this unity," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

During the meeting, the President separately emphasized the importance of creating the necessary security conditions that would make the educational process possible in educational institutions.

"The number one task for us today is for women with children to be able to return to Ukraine by September 1, so that children can go to school, so that students do not leave and can go to universities. It is very important for us to do two things - to repair schools, universities, and also to have a powerful air defense," he said.

In this regard, Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on senators to back the decision on providing Ukraine with modern air defense systems.

"First of all, we appeal to you so that the Congress supports Ukraine in the matter of supplying modern air defense systems. We must ensure such a level of sky security that our people are not afraid to live in Ukraine," said the Head of State.

During the meeting, the parties separately touched upon the issue of increasing sanctions pressure on the aggressor state. Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal informed Volodymyr Zelenskyy about the work they are carrying out in the Senate with the aim of recognizing the Russian Federation as a state sponsor of terrorism.

The President thanked the senators for this important activity and emphasized Ukraine's readiness for further close coordination of activities with partners on the sanctions track.

It seems like Ukraine is slowly losing a war of attrition with Russia. They lack bodies, and we hear that in many of these videos. Since none of the posters in this thread appear to be inclined to drop what they are doing and assist the Ukrainian war effort, lack of bodies will continue to be the main problem. Eventually Russia will annex all of Ukraine and absorb it into greater Russia.

As for students, it's best for them to pursue their education elsewhere.

The war is fought not only on the battlefield. With massive sanctions deterioration of the Russian economy will accelerate. Putin’s clique will lose the silent support of the population and maintaining the grip on power with Stalin-like terror state is impossible in modern Russia. Ukrainians may be slowly losing on the battlefield, but they will win the war if they continue efficient resistance for a few more months.

We do not know if efficient resistance will continue. In a war of attrition you eventually run out of bodies. I think that the effect of the sanctions is basically mostly wishful thinking. The west would like to think they are working, but the sense of many is that the sanctions amount to a few pimples on Putin's ass and he is just squeezing each pimple as it erupts.

Words VS action:

WORDS:

President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that Russia had barely got started in Ukraine and dared the West to try to defeat it on the battlefield, while insisting that Moscow was still open to the idea of peace talks.

ACTION (well, lack thereof)

Russia may be temporarily easing its military offensive in eastern Ukraine as the Russian military attempts to reassemble its forces for a significant – and what it hopes could prove decisive – new offensive, analysts say.

This is how desperate the Russians are.

THREE missiles fired by Russian forces struck a business district in central Vinnytsia, Ukraine’s ministry of defense said on July 14.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine said at least 22 people were confirmed dead and more than two dozen injured.

This was an increase in an initial casualty report from the Ukrainian national police, which said at least one child was among the dead.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said: “Every day Russia is destroying civilians, killing Ukrainian children, and aiming missiles at civilian sites, where there is nothing linked to the military.

“What is this if not an open act of terror? They are not humans.
This is a murderer country, the terrorist country.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has suspended two important figures in his government, questioning their leadership qualities and accusing many of their subordinates of treason and collaborating with Russia.

The two high-ranking officials -- Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova and State Security Service (SBU) head Ivan Bakanov, a long-time associate of the President -- are now subject to an investigation and have been temporarily replaced.

"For a long enough time, we have been waiting for more concrete and sufficiently radical results from the leaders of these two departments, to clean these two departments of collaborators and state traitors," the deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andrii Smyrnov, told Ukrainian television on Monday.

The trip to Russia's ally comes as President Vladimir Putin acknowledged the toll international sanctions are taking on his country, nearly five months after launching the war in Ukraine.

In Russia, all you need to fight for the glory of Putin is just 5 days of training: o_O
