Jean-Luc, my favorite Reuben's Deli is the one @the street level, near Peel. I've been to the other one (basement level, across the Eaton Centre) a few times & it's different. Even the menu is different. I'm also not crazy about the atmosphere (very dark, much older staff, etc). An acquaintance of mine who owns several restaurants in the Mtl area told me that both Reuben's are owned by different people & operated differently. Only the name of the restaurant is the same.

Smoked meat sandwiches are like SP/MP in that you have to have 1 when you visit montreal and it's bad for ones health to have more then 1 a month.

FYI - If the smoked meat slices like a slice of ham and does not fall apart, it means it is sodium cured by injecting salt and spices into it with tiny needles. The real thing takes 4-6 months to cure, the wannabe smoked meat cures in 30 days.

Cwipes: My opinion is that the more sps someone has per month, the better. Sex is great exercise, therefore great for your health....both mental health & physical health.

However, it's bad for the wallet. But even though it's bad for the wallet, it brings about great memories. :eyebrows:

As for smoked meat, it's okay once in a while. But not every day.

It used to be a great place to hang out at on weekends.....many hookers, strippers, pimps, drivers, agency operators & other types would head over there in the early hours of the morning once their shifts were over. A few years ago, i was with a fellow hobbyist at around 3am or so & suddenly someone blurts out "Doc Holliday!!!"......i turn around and it was an agency owner that i had met once at a party....he had stopped by with his assistant for a bite to eat. That same night, some girl, a stripper, headed over to our table & hugged my buddy. They had met many years earlier at a stripclub and she still remembered him. He couldn't remember her name, but did remember bumping into her once or twice at one of the clubs. You just never know who you'll bump into when in Mtl.....

For those wondering, the food at Zesto's is okay. Not great, but not bad either.

Last time I was at the old Zestos on Univeristy I was having a bite to eat with very popular (at the time) sp friend after a night of drinks and it was dead, this was a friday night about 2 or 3 am. She said a lot of her friends in the biz still went there a lot. I assume the new location is even more popular because of it's location. Funny were talking about Zestos which is in the old Nickels once owned by Celine.
