Without sounding racist clearly the names of the arrested are of african decent.

The question is were they put up to it by italians or did they do this on their own will?

Why is it important what race they might be?

Also, your reference to "italians" is uncalled for. Between that and "all individuals with an ethnic sounding name are criminals", there isn't a huge difference.

Moderators, can you please edit the unnecessary references to races of the individuals who may be involved? Plus, none of them have pleaded guilty nor has a trial been held, so they're all innocent until proven otherwise.

According to news sources this attempted murder had nothing to do with the murder of rizzuto jr in

december. Its a street gang turf war between the haitians and the jamaicans.

Huge bust on Colombians, Mexicans, etc...

No it's not only Italians but MB is probably pointing at Ontario's Calabrian's wanting to take over the Rizzuto here in Mtrl.

Tell me if those names sounds french, english or russian ?
Fredrico Del Peschio
Agostino C.
Nick Rizzuto
Paolo Renda

Don't forget last tuesday there was a big bust in Calabria (Italy); around 300 were arrested including top bosses. Since Vito should be coming out in 2012, things will probably heat up a little bit until.

I'll say it once: I have no comment whatsoever about who Dwight (D**) Mushey may or may not be.

End of conversation.

To do that, you'd need to have insider knowledge.

Those in the know, are aware that what the media is reporting and what is actually happening on the ground and behind the scenes, are two different things.

You'd be surprised at who is really calling the shots. It's not about races. However, continuing to name races only perpetuates stereotypes.

It has been long documented that those who run the show are the most discrete of all. And they're not necessarily part of one racial group.
Naming a race adds nothing to the discussion. A criminal is a criminal is a criminal. No particular race can lay claim to that. Perpetuating
myths and stereotypes just to sound informed, only sends the wrong message.

I don't care what race they're from. I only care that they're criminals. Why can't we leave it at that?

You may not have been *trying* to be racist, but singling out individuals by race in a context of criminality, creates racist implications, don't you think?

Racism comes from the fact that people defines themselves by 'races'.
And certain groups of people are 'more active' than others in certain activities.

And when you get different groups of people within other groups then they start by calling themselves by family name or the name of the band-gang-group they're in.

So if you add to the discussion (for instance) Italians in this thread about criminality.

Anyone who would think it's racist, should know that it's not about all the Italians living or coming from Italy and/or living in Mtrl.

Unless he's a stupid or somethin' :)

Hell no. What dictionary did you get that from? Racism has a pejorative element to it. That's quite a leap.

And certain groups of people are 'more active' than others in certain activities.

Cause some media outlet reported it? Or put it on the front page of its rag, to sell more copies?
Or perhaps Hollywood simplifies everything, so their simpleton logic gives someone a license to cross the line?

And when you get different groups of people within other groups then they start by calling themselves by family name or the name of the band-gang-group they're in.

Who are "they"? Who's calling themselves by certain names? Who is attributing names? Easier to sell a story when you call it "mafia" instead of "criminal organizations", don't you think?

So if you add to the discussion (for instance) Italians in this thread about criminality.
So the guy who happened to get clipped is from a particular race. How much can you extrapolate? Have any facts to back it up?

It's the same damn thing. Guilt by association always ensues when you target one group or another. The majority of any racial group are good law-abiding citizens. Unfortunately, their stories won't sell the paper it's written on. The criminal element from any race are criminals first and foremost. Defining them via the race they happen to belong to, is a slippery slope, in my view.

Tell me, if this was a thread about music and we would identify people has being probably from Jamaica or Italy. Would you be able to know the possible differences in the instrument they play ? :)

Yes it's easier to call it the mafia when it's the mafia (whether it's the Italian, Russian, Asian, etc...) since we know a bit more about them.

There might be a Swedish or a Belgian mafia working in Mtrl but I've never heard it. I know some members in the organized crime comes from over there but they didn't start a mafia using their country or their region as a reference.

Now, to me you would be racist though, if you put both Italians and Sicilians in the same boat. :)

Exactly the opposite:

From your Vancouver Sun source: "But there are a lot of different theories out there," one investigator said Wednesday.

From your LaPresse link: "L'attentat-surprise qui s'est déroulé à son commerce de la rue Saint-Jacques, hier, et qui a fait deux morts, pourrait, selon la police, être lié au meurtre de Nicolo Rizzuto, (...)"

These guys know as much as all of us expert speculators in this thread.

Yup ! so what you're saying is that we shouldn't think that the late French Connection (for instance) were french ?

So let's see who is suspected to be linked to it :
Paul Carbone
Vito Agueci
Albert Agueci
John Papalia
Paul Mondoloni
Marcel Francisci
Vic Cotroni

By God you're right ! there is no french name in these... :)
