Australian Open---First Major of the year.

Big big surprise in third round....kid Tsitsipas---20 years old--won over Federer in 4 sets....6-7, 7-6, 7-5, 7-6.....great match in 3h40......now the door is wide open for Nadal.

Chez les femmes c'est toujours plus compliqué......Stephens-Wozniacki--Kerber--Venus--Sharapova sont déjà out.......reste Pliskova-Halep--Osaka--Keys--Mugu--Svitolina and of course Serena.....Serena should win her 24th title BUT she plays number one Halep today in Melbourne...a match to watch...

Enjoy,

Does Nadal wear a G string under his short ? Man he always push a cord out his ass before serving !! Then he goes to smell his fingers. Yikes !

Halep - Serena,,,wow...fantastic match....very intense between 2 true champs...the best of the best,,,digne de la finale....Serena won 6-1, 4-6, 6-3...a great battle...the best have seen until now at Melbourne woman's side. Now who do you think will win that tournament?

Serena of course has a bad temper...not always easy to deal with....BUT she is a great fighter and a true winner-champion....and she did lot for tennis.....she loves playing....:yo::yo::yo:

So there we are...quarters start tonigh with-

TSITSIPAS ----BAUTISTA AGUT.....hope Tsit...will do it...i like him...very humble et à réussi à parvenir à ce sommet avec des moyens modestes.

A12B that made me laugh...
Surely it’s not the strongest part of he’s game , and clearly the shot clock violation hasn’t deterred him from doing it
But lucky for him it is not the reason he will be remembered for after he’s done playing :)

I like Tsitsifast
Nadal should win but Tiafoe really did well for himself in this grand slam
I like Kvitova if she serves well but she can be erratic at times
Collins/ Pavlyuchenkova is toss up ,,, right now though the American is on fire , we’ll see

Just great...2 stars are born in Melbourne.....20 years old Tsitsipas and Collins 25.

Tsitsipas won in 4 long sets in more than 3h15,,,,,very good and intense game.....he will play in semis Nadal.

Beautiful Collins won in 3 sets...6-2, 5-7, 6-1.....she will play in semis Kvitova.....should be a good one....easier for her than for Tsitsipas.

On fire? More then that!! She on a complete destruction path. I mean she completely crushed Gerber... Even in the worst of Eugenie's lost none were as bad as how gerber was pulverized.

Collins will win her first major ;)

J'étais surpris de voir Patrick Mouratoglou ---Serena's coach---in the box of Tsitsipas.

Tonight's program---still quarters.

OSAKA--SVITOVA....should be fun to watch....2 sweet and talented players....beaucoup d'action et de mobilité en perspective....at 7

SERENA-PLISKOVA..2 great sluggers-hitters...BUT often Plisko croule sous la pression and she will have a lot....at 9

MILOS--POUILLE.....Raonic should do well...at 10h15

DJOKO-NISHIKORI...sorry again Nishi...... at 03h30.

Enjoy.

Pouille took out Milos in four sets ,,, the Frenchman was able to neutralize the Canadians serve and thus beating him even though in previous matches between them he wasn’t able to even take a set off him .

Djokovic went through to the semis after Nishikori retired half way through the second set. He didn’t need to expand to much energy and as a result will be pretty fresh and rested for he’s next match.

In the women’s quarterfinals Osaka was to much for Svitolina,,, she’s pretty much carrying on where she left off at the US open.

And finally Serena to everyone’s surprise crashed out after leading 5-1 in the third set vs Pliskova. Perhaps her nerves got the better of her and she choked.
Again it goes to show you that in tennis you can’t run out the clock and you need to find a way to the finish. Take nothing away from Pliskova but for Serena to lose with such a lead it’s gotta be embarrassing, brutal and just one of those matches after where one starts to doubt themselves and how far they are from the end.
Sampras once said that tennis is a lonely sport ,, Agassi was quoted as saying “it’s the closest to solitary confinement “ . There is no voice to calm you , no counter strategy from your coach, (well at least in the majors). No timeouts and no teammates to pick you up,,, it’s for yourself to figure out.
The glory and the burden almost always falls to one player.

Gaby almost all great players these days have a great coaching team, and just a great support group box when there playing. I believe in Tennis great talent but great coaching aswell is what eventually will separate the good from the elite.
As for Mouratoglou don’t forget he’s the one that first took Baghdatis under he’s wing when he was 14,15 years old. Tsitsipas and Baghdatis are close and both have benefited and been helped in there development and career by Mouratoglou . You have to understand what all three have in common is there Greek background . One of the reasons why they all help and support each other .

Greece almost never had any top players in tennis before Tsitsipas and Maria Sakkari. Although they are a decent soccer and basketball nation there tennis player development is amateuristic to say the least. Not many small nations can produce any quality players in my opinion without some decent tennis infrastructure because without it is hard to develop them . Maybe an exception to this rule would be the former Yougoslavia .
Surely it’s a great achievement for Tsitsipas having been the first Greek to reach the semifinals of a grand slam.
Although there have been players of Greek decent that have distinguished themselves before him like Philippoussis, Kokkinakis, kyrgios, Baghdatis and of course Sampras .

Am still sous le choc de la défaite de Serena....don't remember her s'écrouler de cette facon.....let's give big credit to Pliskova for this amazing comeback.....Plisko will play Osaka in semis...Noemie played a perfect game vs Svitova...i really like her...so natural et candide. Will cheer for her...should be a good one.

The other semi...Kvitova--Collins....will also cheer for Collins.

Evidemment je suis décu de la défaite de Milos mais quand même bon tournoi pour lui....so Pouille will play Djoko...and Tsitsipas will play Nadal.....don't be too surprise to see the 2 legends in the final.

Looks like we are gonna be seeing a Nadal/ Djokovic final ... definitely gotta watch it

Osaka/ Pliskova in semis ,,, can Pliskova be up for the task after her big win?

Kvitova/ Collins is the one I would want to watch ,,, Collins the late bloomer who’s on a roll
Had a chance to watch Kvitova play as a result of some insomnia kicking in ,, at least you get to watch some good late night tennis when that happens... saw her play Barty the home favourite and she looked as good as I have ever seen her , really impressed ,, so even though Collins is playing great it’s hard to oppose Kvitova ,, still anything can happen
