Kvitova just too good--perfect 7-6, 6-0....she is a good player but more important an amazing person.....sorry for Collins BUT we will see her again....she has a bright future...and thanks for an exceptionnel tournament:yo:

Am happy for Osaka 6-2, 4-6, 6-4....a very complete and talented player...i will be on her side four the final.....Plisko will have to wait to win her first Major.....BUT bravo for her tournament.

And Nadal..well he is in a league of his own...so spectacular....easy ride 6-2, 6-4, 6-0.....bravo also to Tsitsipas for a formidable tournament...i really like this kid with a bright future in front of him.:yo:

Let’s just say I won’t be asking you for any Super Bowl picks any time soon Jalimon. lol

No but seriously no worries mate ,, l was kidding to begin with i always liked Kvitova in that matchup.I had recently seen plenty of her games at this AO so I knew she was back in form and looking as sharp as ever. And besides there was nothing wrong with your bold prediction because Collins was not without a chance in the first set .

Feel free to make more picks it’s all for fun here on these boards and besides I’m a contrarian by nature so it won’t make s difference.

Easy win for DJOKO...6-0, 6-2, 6-2, so la logique est respectée....we will have the two legends in final....number 1 vs number 2...we can't ask for more....should be a great match.....will go with NADAL.

At 03h30....OSAKA--KVITOVA....will go with OSAKA... should be a good one.

OSAKA-KVITOVA.....i watched the replay....yessss...Naomi won in 3 sets 7-6, 5-7, 6-4.....a very good and intense game in 2h27.....back-to-back Major- wins after the US open 5 months ago....it's huge ...c'est immense ...at only 21......:yo:...this time she will really celebrate and enjoy this magic moment after les turbulences de Serena lors de la finale du US Open qui avait un peu jeté ombrage à sa victoire pourtant bien méritée...incident fort malheureux. ...and plus she is now NUMBER ONE:yo: .....quite an achievement......and bravo also to Sasha Bajin---former Serena's coach---for her great success.

Kudos to Kvitova for an excellent tournament and what an impressive comeback in the second set...she was loosing 5-3..and won 7-5.....wow......thanks girls for an amazing final.

At 03h30,,,,DJOKO -NADAL,,,,,go Nadal......enjoy.

I watched the replay too but I didn’t want to know the prior results so I did not log on Merb this morning because on Merb, any or alomst any info you can imagine of, exist.

What a match up. Osaka kept pounding on the last set. From nice service returns to precise shots down the line. Just amazing girl. Two consecutive grand slams in a row for her. This one was a clean victory as opposed to a drama queen pissed off loser Serina last Flushing Meadow !!! Good job young girl !

Naomi Osaka is a player that i feel i could like in the next coming years. I took a look at her biography and found out many surprising things about her. She's lived in the United States since age 3. Her father is Leonard Francois, a Haitian immigrant from NYC who met her mother while visiting Japan as a student. Her mother's last name is Osaka and since she & her sister were born in Japan at the time the parents decided their daughters use the mother's Japanese-sounding surname.

Her father wanted his daughters to become professional tennis players one day so he studied the methods of Richard Williams, father of Serena & Venus Williams. When she was aged 8 or 9 the family moved to Florida in order for the girls to learn from the top tennis coaches in the country & play tennis outdoors year-long. The parents also chose early to have Naomi represent Japan since they felt their daughters' upbringing was mostly Japanese & Haitian and they also felt snobbed by the US Tennis Association when Naomi was an up and coming young tennis player.

When US Tennis started to discover Naomi's potential they offered to train her at its facility in Boca Raton, FLA. But Osaka's parents declined the invitation and preferred going their own way & continue what they were doing at the time, which was chosing their own tennis schools and instructors for their daughter(s).

So no wonder Naomi Osaka speaks perfect english during her interviews. I'm actually more impressed now (after learning this) that she can speak Japanese so well!

NADAL- DJOKO...oh boy not the match i was expecting at all.....so easy win by Djoko in 3 little sets et en presque 2 hres....incredible......une véritable lecon de tennis et Nadal m"a vraiment décu BUT let's give Djoko tout le crédit qui lui revient pour un match parfait....il n'est pas NUMBER ONE pour rien....le joueur le plus titré du Australian Open avec 7 victoires et maintenant 15 Majors....à 2 de Nadal et 5 de Federer...:yo:

Happy for the Djoker who simply destroyed and taught Nadal a lesson! No better tennis player than a healthy Djoker!...lol!

Nadal has played in 9 hard court finals....he's 4-5...under .500 (and he is 2-5 in his last 7 hard court finals)...Not sure what the big deal is about him!

He'll always carry the label as being by far a clay and grass player! Especially a clay player, where there is none better!...and that's because he was accustomed to that type of playing surface in Spain and pure physics (his body structure and endurance, slower speed of play on clay).
