Grim year my ass!!!
Odds from Bowmans has the Yankees beating the Mets in the world series.
My prediction for the AL East-
1. Yankees-Too much fire power, Jeter(Batting title?), Arod(40 plus hr?), Cano(Batting title?), Abrehu, Giambi, Matsui(over 100 rbi?), Wang(CY Young ?), Rivera(best reliever of all time?), Clemens(in pinstripes?) all realistic possibilities, need i go on?
2. Blue Jays(Frank Thomas is my MVP pick if he stays healthy, i look for him to club close to 50 hr with well over 100 rbi, also look for them to make some major pitching aquisitions during the season as Rogers has given Riccardi his cheque book)
3. Red Sox(Boy it sure took a loooooooooonnng time to get that Drew contract signed, what could possibly have been the hold up
, injuries and lack of depth will do them in again and look for big Papi to regress this year which is the likely scenario after someone signs a huge contract which he did last year)
One more prediction, Igawa will win more games then D-Mat and maybe even Rookie of the year, care to make some bold predictions Reggy my boy or is your tail still stuck between your legs?

Red Sox starters: Schilling, Matsuzaka, Beckett, Papelbon, Wakefield, Lester (assuming he's healthy). If Papelbon is anywhere near his closer strength as a starter that gives the Sox four pitichers who would be #1's on 75% of the clubs in the majors. I know my other favorite team -- the defending champion Cardinals -- would die to have any one of the Sox' top four at the top of their rotation.
Granted the Sox bullpen is their weakeness right now, but anyone who asserts that the Yankees' starting staff is anywhere near the quality of the Sox' staff is just blowin' smoke.

-Lester's ERA was 4.76 last year which is nothing to right home to mother about but if there is one guy that i am pulling for it is him because cancer is a terrible disease.
I think that you should reword your statement by saying that here are 5 starters that would not be number one on 75% of the teams, that would be more appropriate.

Looks like Daisuke may have some competition for the Cy this year after all. Schilling, the best control pitcher in the league and the man with one of the game's most devastating splitters, has been working on a new pitch, a change-up, for the past couple of years. He's now happy with it and is using it against competition for the first time this spring. It's been pretty fabulous in the early going and should be a great compliment to his arsenal this year.

this is an attitude EVERY pitcher should take into a new season. In Schilling's case, however, he has both the history and stuff to justify this confidence.
