EB, where do you go to exchange your US $ when in Mtl? Seems Calforex is offering the best rates these days here. Cibc a little less but still probably better than US banks before you come, no?

Look behind you.
The east needs a low dollar to help with the exports, Canada was in pretty good shape when our dollar was around 0.65

I have a funny feeling that the US $ will reach $1.25 CAD by end of 2015, I'm gonna make a killing this year.

$1.25 CAD/$1 USD would be a conservative estimate. If there aren't any catastrophic events causing oil prices to spike, good to again pay attention to what is happening with Greece and the EU. Even with Germany/EU well prepared for any of the weak EU members to leave there will negative symbolic effect on the Euro.

Canadadian gov needs it to be 1.20 -1.30 and rate of sp will go up to compensate.. But a 1.20 is necessary for a strong Canadian economy ... All pork products and Petro products are traded in usd. They in turn convert it to pay workers and bills . Making all these Canadian corporations into American corporations basically

Canada needs exports to Shore up its economy , it's not optimal but you can't get better if you don't stop bleeding and bandage Canadian Econ wounds.

Here's a thought, when the US dollar was kicking the loon's ass the SP's in Montreal where extremely hot and very abundant, let's hope that this trend continues!!!!!!!

There is absolutely no correlative effect between the price of the loonie and the rate of SPs. 10-12 years ago, the loonie was worth .65 US and the going rate for SPs was $140. The value of the loonie does not affect the cost of eggs, the price of a Metro ticket, or anything else that is not imported.

I personally think that we're at the high water mark. I just hope it stays here.

Especially with that anti-hobby law in place, this is going to have a negative impact even with good exchange rates. Such poor timing. Also back in late 90s and early 2000s the US entertainment industry was flocking to Montreal to make movies. Coupled with the low exchange rates then this combo fueled the Montreal hobby scene. That was why the quality of the women was so high which gave way to what it is today.
