Going into the last series of the Regular season, I think the Yankees have the leg up. If the Yankees did not come back against Toronto today, the Orioles would have the advantage instead.

The Orioles are facing a hot playing Tampa Bay Rays team who have won their last 9 out of 10. The Orioles have won 7 out of their last 10.

The Yankees are playing the Red Sox. Enuf said. (is that spelled right? I've seen it that way by someone?) The Yankees have a good chance of sweeping.

The Rays have a very outside chance of tying Oakland for the second AL wildcard. The Rays must win all 3 games and the A's must lose all 3 games.

The second place AL West Oakland is playing the AL West 1st place Texas Rangers. Texas lead Oakland by 2 games.

Interestingly, the Rays Orioles series and A's Rangers series have equal importance to all 4 teams, as well as the NY Yankees.

Cano just hit a moonshot off of Buchholz to center field. He is now batting over .400 career against Buchholz. Granderon followed two batters later with a second deck shot to RF, then Russell Martin went back to back to make it 4-0.

On YES they were saying the Red Sox have the worst record in major league baseball since the end of August, 7-23 I believe. It's amazing how bad their team looks right now as far as who is being put out on the field. This just shows that when you fire sale like they did you have to have good guys coming in to replace the fire saled guys. I really thought that the Red Sox lack of depth got exposed at the end of last year as their roster was too invested in the 1-10 guys and not in the 11-25 or 11-40 guys. You have to have depth to be able to sustain your team and survive injuries and bad performance that happens to all teams over 162 games.

Buchholz hammered and hits the shower down 7-0 to the Yankees without making it out of the 2nd inning. What an absolute horseshit performance, I think he threw 60 pitches in 1.2 innings. What happened to this guy? Rumples said he was destined to be a #1 starter.

The Yankees-Red Sox final series is such a special series.

Both the Yankees and Red Sox are playing for their respective spots in the final 2012 Standings.

The Yankees are vying for first place of the AL East, of course.

The Red Sox with one more loss will clinch the last place of the AL East.

What a series and what a season.

Seriously speaking here, no joke, but as i just watched Bobby V go to the mound to take out a once former shell of himself, Dice K, it saddens me to see Bobby V looking like a walking corpse as he will no doubt be fired within the next 24-48 hours. Really liked Bob V as manager of the Mets years ago but came to loathe his on air commentary skills after he returned from Japan. Does this mean we will have to endure his "awesome" speaking on MLB broadcasts again? Oh well, at least he wont be talking about how great his bestest little buddy "pedy" is anymore , not even the best of relationships can last when one outs the other in public. Sad, but true. Newsflash Dustin and Bobby, somethings are left best kept behind closed doors, especially when you were what seemed like pals, then again, it was always Valentine praising Ped's, and not the other way around.

Report: Red Sox to fire Bobby Valentine

This is not Bobby Valentine’s week. After a disappointing season, the Red Sox manager will reportedly be fired just after the season ends this week, according to sources that told CBS Sports.

He told a radio station this week that he felt his staff undermines his authority and the coaches haven’t been loyal. And on Tuesday, he injured his knees and hips after losing control of his bike while texting a player. Valentine had been responding to Dustin Pedroia, the second baseman, who said he would play in the game even with his broken finger.

YES is reporting that Bobby V will in fact be fired as soon as tomorrow, if not sooner. I would bet on his return to ESPN. I think this is his last managerial gig. He alienated both his players and his coaches and some of the things he said were quite mystifying to me, starting with the comments he made about Youkilis which were not true. In fact I thought Youk and Pedroia were the only pride and guts players on the Red Sox team and he went out and dogged one of his two best PGD guys. That is what got him on the wrong side of Pedroia. He mishandled that situation badly.

At this point the Red Sox have clinched last place, are 25 games behind the Yankees, are about to be swept and are about to lose their most games since 1993. There really is not much more to be said.

Once Bobby V is fired it will be a classic "don't let the fucken door hit your fucken ass on the way out" situation. You guys thought Francona took a few knives in the back last year after he got fired, wait til you see what happens with Bobby V. This will be the worst bloodletting in pro sports history for a removed coach or player since the Flyers sent Eric Lindros packing and Bobby Clarke called him a "cancer" who "hurt the organization"............

With Granderson and Cano hitting 2 homers apiece tonight, the Yankees have set a franchise record of 245 homeruns, eclipsing the 244 hit by the 2009 World Champion Yankees.

Congratulations to the 2012 New York Yankees for this awesome, record-setting explosion of power.

Also congratulations to the Red Sox for finishing in dead last place and for having their worst winning percentage since 1965.:thumb:

Yankees Are AL East Champs!

Congratulations to the 2012 Yankees, AL EAST CHAMPIONS and the first team to win a divisional title after spending 30 days in 1st with no more than a 1.5 game lead over the 2nd place Orioles. A true display of pride and guts to hold off the charging Os. Congratulations also to the Orioles for hanging in to the last day of the season before going down.
