A "smart" pitcher with good stuff is as good as a pitcher with great stuff....look no further than Mussina and Pettitte
Phelps does remind one of Moose the way he pitches. He has more between his ears and a better idea of how to pitch than Romero.

Love Lawrie, maybe we can trade Arod next year and a first rounder for Brett lol. Thing with Arod is tho, he will continue to decline but will make the Yankees Brand so much $$$$ it wont be funny. The Yanks want him desperately to go to the HOF in a Yankees hat with the hr record.

CC looks absolutely fucking fantastic tonight, definitely looks like he is coming into form, just in time for the stretch run and the playoffs when he is most needed, the Red Sox would kill to have a player of this caliber.:thumb:

Unfortunately, and not surprisingly, the Yankees are getting no help from the Red Sox, who have bent over and spread their butt cheeks wide open ever since the big salary dump on the Dodgers. Yankees-Orioles looks like it will go to the wire.

Lol......... man, they have got so much to do to even try to have a .500 club next year. Oh well, at least they have the most sellouts in a row record, btw, do they even have 32,000 seats in that "ballpark" :noidea:

Meanwhile the corpse of Alfredo Aceves was "lights out" as usual at Fenway, look for him to be in the Sox starting rotation next year.:help:

Thanks Rumps, looks like your well wishes worked! Since returning and getting so far 2 BIG LEAGUE starts, Mr. Pettitte has some fine looking numbers to the tune of 11IP, 11H, 3BB, 6K and ZERO earned runs.... or in other words, a 0.00 era in his 2 "rehab" starts. You sure know how to call em friend.

GO JAYS and RAYS!

Pettitte is likely to return, though with the minor league season, he won't get the 3-4 rehab starts he needs to get into form. He'll have to do that at the MLB level: good luck with that.

Pettite has looked brilliant in both his 2 major league "rehab" starts. 11 shutout innings and he has made amazing pitches on the corner. He went 75 pitches the 1st start and I think close to 90 last night. Pettite just knows how to pitch and has tremendous guts and pride out on the mound. Not to mention determination. It's not an accident that he has the most postseason wins in MLB history.

Right on Beav, and Pettitte needs one more postseason win to be a 20 game winner in the second season, something that will likely NEVER be duplicated by anyone.

Ichiro Will Be Thinking of Yankees On Deathbed

http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/yankees/heavenly_V0FYVdj1cxBQXK0uziG5EI

Ichiro had one other point to make about being a Yankee and playing with Jeter.

“This is a special time right now,’’ he said with excitement in his voice. “This is a special experience to play with Jeter and the Yankees. When I am an old man I will look back and say, ‘What an experience that was to be on this team.’ Before I die, I think I will remember this time and what a special time this is. That is what I envision what it will be like when I get close to dying.’’

Ever notice how much Michael Kay criticizes Joe Girardi these days? Never noticed it as much as this Toronto seires but seems every broadcast lately he is questioning Joe's moves more than normal. Not saying he is right or wrong, just observing alot of it lately. For example and i said this before Kay did, why not have Gardner pinch run for Ibanez in the 8th, Gards would of easily made it to third on that deep fly ball to center. Anyways, maybe it is just me but like i said, seems Kay is awfully critical of Joe G. lately.

I am no lover of Michael Kay by any stretch of the imagination, but Girardi's moves have been backfiring lately. He has gone to the bullpen too quickly a few times, and he really should have benched Andruw Jones weeks ago................

Today though, so far so good, as the Yankees staged an important and crucial comeback...........
