My comment wasn't directed at you. As for Tyler Myers, i agree that he's going to be a fabulous hockey player, reminding me a lot of a younger Zdeno Chara. But he's only 19 years old, so maybe that's why he would have been left off the roster. Another reason he might not have been picked (or even considered) is the fact that he's been living in Canada since the age of 10. He's publicly stated he regards himself as a 'canadian hockey player' even though he holds dual citizenships. He's played for Team Canada all his life & would have been a candidate for this year's edition of Team Canada, not Team USA. For example, if the Sabres don't get far in the playoffs, he'd likely be selected to play for Team Canada at this spring's World Hockey Championships. You can't have it both ways: it's either you're available to play for Team Canada, or Team USA. Brett Hull, who was born in Belleville, Ontario, always played for Team USA at international competitions. It was his choice since he had dual citizenships, having lived in the States when he was a baby (who then moved to Winnipeg when his father Bobby played for the Jets).
I wasn't. He wasn't even considered. He won't even be considered even if several forwards go down prior to the Olympics, and even many members of the Mtl media understand this. The problem with Cammalleri is that the large majority of his goals are scored on home ice. He's also a one-dimensional player. Team Canada wants scorers on its first two lines, then two-way players on the remaining two. The first line of Thornton-Marleau-Heathley is a given. The second line will likely have Crosby with Rich Nash & possibly Jarome Iginla. Patrice Bergeron could play on Crosby's line instead of Iginla, having played with him in the past. The third line will have Ryan Getzlaf with Corey Perry & either Iginla, Bergeron or Eric Staal. Mike Richards could also be on that line, or it could be somebody else.
If an injury keeps one of the forwards out, the call will likely go to the likes of Martin St-Louis, Vinnie Lecavalier or Steven Stamkos from Tampa. Or it could be Brad Richards of Dallas or Jordan Staal of the Pens getting the nod. But it won't be Mike Cammallari, unless the Olympics move to Montreal. Remember, he's scored the majority of his goals on home ice & the last time i checked, the Olympics will be held in British Columbia & not in Mtl.
The only player named to the team who wasn't at last September's team orientation camp is Patrice Bergeron of the Bruins. So logic is that the next player to be named to the team due to injury would be someone from that camp.

Leafs unrestricted free agents will soon be trade bait
With the trade deadline approaching, a number of pending free agents to be dealt with and a team making a series of starts and stops at the bottom of the standings, Leafs GM Brian Burke wants stability for his players.
But he doesn't promise it.
"You prefer to not have a lot of movement," said Burke. "The more stable your lineup is the better chances you have. We'll have to see how it goes. It's a fluid situation as far as I'm concerned."
The Maple Leafs have nine pending unrestricted and four restricted free agents, and their future with the team depends mostly on the club's fortunes, their willingness to stay and Burke's willingness to keep them.
Each of them could end up being trade fodder for the March 3 deadline. Burke doesn't have a pick in the first two rounds and would love to give his scouts something to do.
It's doubtful that Burke would want to keep them all. The restricted free agents are most intriguing, with defenceman Ian White the most likely to receive a raise. He's a steady blueliner with offence that impresses with his work ethic.
The unrestricted free agents are the most likely to be traded. Wayne Primeau is a favourite of coach Ron Wilson and Burke is impressed with Alexei Ponikarovsky.
So Matt Stajan, playing a first-line centre role he's not particularly suited to, could be a candidate for trade.
Vesa Toskala, too, could be trade deadline bait depending on the goalie market.
The rest could stay if they'd take a pay cut.
Burke said he was opening negotiations with the players he wants to keep, but isn't about to start naming names.
Past the halfway mark of the season, Burke said he's happy with the team work ethic, but not much else.
"If you took out the first seven games, it's been a successful season, but you can't do that," said Burke.
"We dug a deep hole. We worked very, very hard (to get out of it). I'm proud of that."

USA 6 CANADA 5 .......... great game, well deserved win for the States..... and next year its in buffalo ny, might be a few gold medals in a row for them ....
the only downside to this and maybe it is not, but it wouldnt surprise me if Bettman looks at this as "ANOTHER" attempt to expand in the States, PLEASE lets hope not!
