actually, i didnt really care who won between the 2 teams, in a way, i am kinda glad the hawks won for a hometown hero friend i know that plays for them (way to go #88), and also now the habs fans can stop thinking they got eliminated by the best team in hockey, ha!

Flyers have the 2nd best winning percentage in the league just behind....the HABS !
That's why Flyers are SOBs that we like to hate.

And...don't you love to see them loose once again, one goal short of the Cup ?
Bouhou ! snif snif !

Congrats to the HAWKS !)

Well you're right...the Habs got eliminated by the 2nd best team in hockey...

...which of course is much better than being eliminated by the 28th best team.

Have fun and let it go will ya...peace,
Jman

I would have enjoyed a 7th game as exiting of the 6th.... however Hawks would have probably won anyway...
Habs have a long way to go there.... We should not hide the truth behind the performance of three players : Halaks, Camaleri and Gionta.... the step is huge !
Looking forward the soccer now !!!!

yea, and one of the hawks mentioned Pronger as his hero growing up! also heard alot of Leafs names mentioned, Gilmour and Clark mostly

Wasn't Gilmour a Hab (as well as many other things!) and Clark a Nordique (as well as many other things!)?

How about it took a former Leaf to coach the hawks to a championship, ala, Joel Quenneville :) spin it anyway you wish, it is still true.... that is indeed worthy of a GO LEAFS GO! .... ps, there is only ONE winner this year, and the habs were not it either. lol

Yeah right, Quenneville's a former leaf...who ALSO played for Colorado, Jersey, Hartford and Washington! Not exactly a George Armstrong, Dave Keon or Darryl Sittler when you think of former leafs! (And even Keon and Sittler played for other teams also!).
Meanwhile, you IGNORED my ORIGINAL question: When was the last time that even an EX-leaf played on a Cup-winning team? Please note that the word "played" and the word "coached" do not mean the same thing!

Anyone who watched TSN today would have noticed an awful lot of woeful stats about the leafs. TSN pointed out, as all hockey fans already know, that Toronto has now gone longer than any other NHL team without a Cup. What was more interesting was the amazing number of times they haven't even made the playoffs...and we're not just talking about the Burke and Ferguson eras, but the entire post-expansion period.

TSN also pointed out (again, as all true hockey fans already know) that Burke has squandered his future on overrated players (including the player voted MOST overrated by all his fellow NHLers!) and is now desperately trying to BUY players. This is one of the poor strategies that caused 43 years of failure in the first place, but Burke seems oblivious. Of course, considering their horrendous draft and trade record, the leafs might have no other choice.

TSN pointed out their complete lack of achievement in finding goalies - except for Rask, who they typically gave away to the Bruins. Defence? Well, TSN reminded everyone of how the leafs lost future Hall of Famer and multiple Cup winner Scott Niedermayer for a washed-up, ineffectual Tom Kurvers! All in all, a great job by TSN in pointing out the obvious: for the leafs, the future is just as bleak as the past and present.

"It's official: Leafs are NHL's biggest losers,"

the Toronto Maple Leafs own the dubious distinction of having the longest rolling Stanley Cup dry spell - the only team left that has not experienced the ultimate victory since the Original Six era.

ROFL! nice try, but even someone with limited hockey knowledge as yourself should know they both got their fame and had their best years as Leafs.... you funny habs fan you :)

Wasn't Gilmour a Hab (as well as many other things!) and Clark a Nordique (as well as many other things!)?

so whats your excuse as to what caused 42 years of failure for the red wings in between cup victories? not that you care about the red wings but just curious as to your answer? lol.....

It's true that the Leafs haven't won a Stanley Cup since 1967, but nothing beats the Chicago Cubs record for not winning a championship since 1911. Wow!!

How long was it until the Red Sox won another championship? Something like 80+ years?? There's still hope for the Leafs! :D

Did I wonder into the baseball thread...I thought we were talkin' hockey here...?!
Did the Cubs and the Red Sox trade pads and sticks for gloves and bats? LOL

Truth hurts sometimes...Sox fans had to put up with it until 2004...that was uh...6 seasons ago now...

Have fun,

i thought you wanted to "let it go"? , truth of the matter is, red sox fans as well as cubs fans, had over twice the wait, i cant imagine how sweet victory must of tasted when sox fans FINALLY won! ... and it will be just as nice when the Leafs do, and cairo, before you talk smack, just remember it took the red wings 42 years. so whatever you wanna say it is totally transparent "IF" you want us to believe your team is indeed the red wings, which i still have my doubts :)

Hello Doc,

D.E.S.P.E.R.A.T.I.O.N. C'mon Doc. Do you really have to go into another sport to feel better. BTW...the last time the Cubs won the World Series was 1908, not 1911...if that helps...lol. Want to be ecstatic? I don't think the Greeks have won the Olympics as a team in 2000 years.

Περιμένουμε μέχρι το επόμενο έτος
(Wait til next year)

You're welcome,

Merlot

You can't compare baseball to hockey, although I do grant you that the leafs could not be any worse on the diamond than they are on the ice!
