I'll be the first to admit that the Bruins don't look like they'll go far in the playoffs this year (my prediction in possibly to the 2nd round.) In my opinion and that's only what it is is an opinion, Tim Thomas fucken sucks! I've despised him since he won his first Vezina and watching him day in and day out I believe he's severely overrated, as is the entire team. They are average, nothing more, nothing less. Average ain't going to bring them a Cup, that's for sure!

Lundquist for the Vezina!

I agree with most of your points in regards to the Bruins. They'll likely advance to the 2nd round ONLY if they meet Montreal. If it's another that they meet in the first round, i predict the Bruins will get kicked out of the playoffs. Just my opinion.

As for the Vezina, i agree that King Henrik has a very good chance to win it. Other candidates would be Carey Price & Ilya Bryzgalov. My personal pick would be Price, since the habs would have been out of the playoffs a heck of a long time ago if it wasn't for his heroics throughout the season. Of course, the same case could be made in regards to either Lundquist or Bryzgalov.

I would agree with you on this but.... playoffs are playoffs and once in a while something out of nowhere happens.
Last year it was Halak for the Habs who just exploded in playoffs while the team was no Stanley cup team.

You never know what can happen with the Bruins and I won't be surprised if they go beyond 2nd round.

Average in regular season doesn't mean average in playoffs !

If it would be the case, it wouldn't mean anything to have them !

Personaly I would like to see all the teams in playoffs instead of leaving some out.
The Leafs for instance would probably give us a good show this year !

And we could get Habs against Leafs more often... which would probably bring us more bonfires downtown :)

Round 1 Habs Bruins will be interesting... Thomas looks like the starter for the postseason while Price will try to prove himself in the Playoffs. Can't remember Price winning more than 1 series in his career if at all. Not to mention the size difference will definitely be a big factor in the Playoffs with the tight checking + hitting.

I agree on all counts & of course Tim Thomas will be the starter. After all, he's the leading candidate to win another Vezina trophy. :D

The alleged incidents occurred between 2008 and just a few weeks ago.

A document obtained at the Montreal courthouse Thursday outlined the charges.

Damphousse did not appear in court.

Damphousse played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Edmonton Oilers, the Montreal Canadiens and the San Jose Sharks in a an 18-year NHL career. He retired after the 2003-04 season.

In 1,378 NHL games, he scored 432 goals and amassed 1,205 points.

The 43-year-old was inducted into the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Hall of Fame last week, along with former players Martin Lapointe and Robert Desjardins and builder Harold MacKay.

Damphousse was drafted fifth overall by Toronto in 1986.

He won a Stanley Cup in 1993 with the Habs and served as the team's captain from 1996 to 1999. He finished his playing career in San Jose.

Boston's Zdeno Chara among Norris trophy finalists

Boston's Zdeno Chara, Detroit's Nicklas Lidstrom and Nashville's Shea Weber were named finalists Monday for the Norris Memorial Trophy, awarded to the league's best defenseman.

Chara won the award in 2009 and is a finalist for the third time in the past four seasons. The Bruins captain led the league with a plus-33 rating and recorded 44 points (14 goals, 30 assists).

"It's always a big honor and I'm very humbled," Chara said. "I'm very thankfully, obviously, especially after how many guys had great seasons."

Chara's coach, Claude Julien, said the defenseman is worthy.

"He plays a lot of minutes and always plays against other teams top lines," he said. "He's utilized as a shut down [defenseman] against best players of other teams. You look at his stats at the end of the year and he's a plus-33 and that speaks for itself."

The winner will be announced June 22 during the 2011 NHL awards ceremony in Las Vegas.

Damphousse's estranged wife charged with assaulting him

MONTREAL - The estranged wife of former Canadiens captain Vincent Damphousse found herself before a judge Wednesday as she was formally charged with assaulting the retired hockey player.

An indictment alleging Allana Henderson, 40, of Baie d'Urfé, assaulted Damphousse last month emerged from the Montreal courthouse only days after he also was accused of conjugal violence. Damphousse, who played for the Canadiens from 1992 to 1999 during an 18-year National Hockey League career, faces six charges alleging he assaulted Henderson on different occasions between Jan. 1, 2008 and March 29, 2011.

Through a lawyer, Damphousse pleaded not guilty to all of the charges last week.

Henderson appeared in person before Quebec Court Judge Raymonde Verreault Wednesday afternoon while her lawyer, Mathieu Corbo, also entered a not-guilty plea. Both cases are scheduled to return to court July 12.

After the brief hearing, Henderson and her lawyer walked past reporters while Corbo repeated "no comment" a few times.

Prosecutor Caroline Paquin said Henderson was not required to be present for her first court date but wanted to be there to have a condition attached to the case modified. The condition is part of divorce proceedings Henderson filed recently.

Last week, Damphousse's lawyer, Michel Dorval, issued a statement saying the charges brought against his client were "instigated in the context of a divorce proceeding." Dorval also wrote that Damphousse will not comment on the charges.

Paquin said it is not unusual to see counter allegations made in cases involving conjugal violence.

"Each is the accused and the victim in the present case. Certain events overlap but some date back to 2008 in the case of Mr. Damphousse," Paquin said.

The case against Henderson involves events that allegedly took place on March 29 in Montreal. She is charged with stealing a briefcase from Damphousse and with assaulting him while threatening to use a weapon. Paquin would not say what type of weapon was referred to in the alleged threat.

Damphousse is also charged with assaulting Henderson on March 29. According to court records, the couple's first hearing in their divorce was held at the Montreal courthouse two days later. Five other charges allege Damphousse assaulted Henderson between Jan. 1, 2008 and March 25, 2011.

Damphousse began his National Hockey League career in 1986 with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He began playing for the Canadiens in 1992 and was traded to the San Jose Sharks during the 1998-99 season. He was the team's captain from 1996 until the time of the trade.

Do you see now... why I re-posted yours with the title 'Former Leafs....' ?
Cuze 'Former Habs captain'... was irrelevant for the sport section !

We heard about this in Mtrl on radio talk shows and this is a personnal matter which brought out the subject about violence that also men could be faced with.

First they let Guy Boucher walk, Tampa thanks you, now it looks like the canadiens Kirk Muller will be let go, this time to Dallas. Horrible Horrible HORRIBLE decisions by management to let 2 excellent hockey minds walk, but at least you have Martin! I thought things were gonna change when the Molsons bought the team back? Well, you know the saying, The more things change, the more they stay the same" Hey Kirk, (good for you!)

http://www.rds.ca/canadien/chroniques/319019.html

It's well known you're not the fastest horse in the race Ig so it makes me a little sad to have to tell you that's only news in Leafland.

The rest of the "conscious" hockey world knew that last January when he announced he would not renew his contract as an assistant in order to get a head coaching job somewhere in the NHL.

I have no doubt he'll do a great job in Dallas and have lots of success with Brad Richards fronting his number one line. :p

P.S. Just think had Reimer not saved Wilson's job with the 2011 version of the Laffs annual sucker rally they could have possibly hired a competent man (Muller thanks Reimer :hail:) to finally get a glimpse at the playoffs next year.

Sorry to burst your little bubble world your living in ballsdays, but this is EXACTLY why the habs will never get another cup anytime soon, they let the guy go who would of made the PERFECT choice to be the habs head coach, and they could of sent martin either packing all together, or gave him a job somewhere in the orginization.... dont get me wrong, i am glad he is walking and more importantly, being allowed to walk, just gets better and better in habsland!
