Well, it is not the first time Burke has committed such crimes, other examples are:

1. Phaneuf/Aulie for a bunch of castaways (could turn out to be another Dougie Gilmour type steal, and that also was against the Flames)

2. Super Highly touted and #1 prospect of the Ducks, Jake Gardiner, and Lupul (top 6 winger) for a underacheiving Francios Beauchemin

3. Versteeg for first and 3rd round pics (Versteeg was almost invisible for the flyers after the trade)

4. Getting rid of Blake and Toskala's contracts for free would of been highway robbery, but managed to get Jiggy in return, Genius?

And i am sure more thievery is in Burkes future.
Kaberle remains a puzzle in Boston

Thomas Kaberle has a been a huge bust in Boston. The fact the Bruins sent their 2011 first-round pick, a conditional 2011 pick (likely a 2nd-round pick) & their 2008 first-round pick (Joe Colborne) to obtain a 30-something one-dimensional defenceman on the last year of his contract has convinced most people around the league that Brian Burke committed highway robbery against his counterpart from the Bruins, Peter Chiarelli.

He never said he had a 5 yr plan, unlike gainey, btw THAT plan came and passed 2 seasons ago, lol... 3rd full season under Burke and he will have the Leafs in the playoffs, possibly contending, this after completely remaking the whole franchise, well, almost, he still has unfinished business to attend to this summer.:thumb:

Pierre g. best get started, he has NINE players signed for next season. Will Markov be back or test free agency? If he does come back, what does he give you anymore? hard to say, but i would assume pierre g will take a chance and offer him a high contract, thus hurting your team to sign Wiz back or say a Kevin Bieska or Christian Erhoff. Personally i hope gauthier throws a 4 year 20million dollar offer at Markov so it handicaps the habs for signing anyone else that they desperately need. Good luck in habbyland next season. We will be doing this looking down at you in the standings

Have you ever been to Winnipeg?

It's not that much different than Edmonton. Nice place. A bit cold, but very good fan base. At least the fans won't be disguised as seats at the Winnipeg arena! (I'd rather have a team in Winnipeg than in Columbus).

p.s. The Nordiques will be back once their arena is built. Likely Phoenix relocating, but it could be Florida & maybe even Columbus. The fact the Coyotes will play at least one more year in Arizona will buy time for an eventual 'possible' move to Quebec City.

Expect either Detroit, Columbus or Nashville to move to the Eastern Conference in 2012 in order to 'balance out' the league. Or....could it be Phoenix if they eventually move to Quebec City?

Sha-Weet! More teams in Canada is a GREAT thing for the NHL. Now Quebec Ciity needs a team.... i cant wait to go back "home", and a Leafs/Nords game would be epic to see.

I totally agree with you! I have a feeling i'll have "Quebec City" instead of "Montreal" on my plane tickets whenever i decide to go for a trip to a great city in the near future.......I ABSOLUTELY LOVE LA VILLE DE QUEBEC!

Iggy.....in a year or two, once Winnipeg moves to the Western Conference.....how about we head out west on a road trip where we'll catch the Leafs in Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton & Vancouver?

One of my buddies who once played in the NHL tells me that the women in Calgary & Vancouver are among the NHL's finest looking women! Even ahead of Montreal! That would be one hell of a road trip!!!

The Hockey News confirms sale of Trashers to True North Sports & Entertainment

by Ken Campbell

With the mayor of Winnipeg expecting the Atlanta Thrashers to arrive in town any day now, speculation is mounting that the complicated deal between the Atlanta Spirit group and True North Sports and Entertainment is finally completed.

And there’s ample evidence to suggest that is the case. In fact, one source close to the situation said the final obstacle holding up the sale - how the $170 million purchase price would be split between the NHL and Atlanta Spirit - has finally been overcome.

And it appears to have favored the Atlanta Spirit and owner Bruce Levenson, who will reportedly receive $20 million of the $60 million relocation fee that is included in the purchase price. As reported by THN.com last week, the negotiations for the sale were being held up because the league and Levenson could not agree on how much each side would receive from the sale.

The purchase price for the franchise was reportedly $110 million, which would go to Levenson and the Atlanta Spirit, with a $60 million relocation fee that would go to the NHL. Speculation was the league was using that money to prop up losses it has and will sustain in owning and operating the Phoenix Coyotes until a suitable buyer can be found. The relocation fee, it should be noted, was not in place when the Minnesota North Stars moved to Dallas in 1993, the Quebec Nordiques moved to Colorado in 1995, the Winnipeg Jets moved to Phoenix in 1996 and the Hartford Whalers moved to Carolina in 1997.

It’s believed there was a tug-of-war between Levenson and the league concerning that money. It was believed the NHL was trying to extract the full $60 million relocation fee, plus at least another $10 million of the purchase price, while Levenson was negotiating for a portion of the relocation money.

All that is left to be determined, said a source, is when the announcement will be made by the NHL. It will either be done between now and the Stanley Cup final or between the end of the final and the draft. It is expected there will be an extended layoff of several days before the Stanley Cup final begins, which would give the league time to make the announcement of the sale and relocation.

The league is apparently of two minds when it comes to making the announcement. If it does so between the conference finals and Cup final, it would remove the speculation that would hang over the Cup final, but might also be a dominant topic when the league wants the focus to be on the series between the league’s top two teams. But if it waits, it risks having the speculation of the sale hanging over the final.

Do i really need to teach you all over again? really? You should check your facts, if you had then you would see that the Leafs were actually better this year than they have been in the last 4 seasons. You know (well obviously you do not) that when you dismantle a team and start over, it is pretty normal for a team to take a couple years to get back to the point they were at, before they can move higher in the standings, something which they did after 2 full years under Burke, which btw improving by 11 points and moving up 5 spots was a big step for a young team, and there is every indication that the improvement will continue next season and beyond.

If you really think Burke and Nonis are not somewhat responsible for the Canucks success, (which, btw, they played a HUGE part in this 2011 Vancouver team) your alot less of a Hockey fan than i thought, now back on your wagon

Hmmm,
Burke doesn't manage the Ducks or Canucks any more, and the Leafs record was better three years ago than in the two years since Burke has lead them, so he hasn't made any provable improvement despite the past or the skills you allege.

Funny, thats exactly what i was originally thinking about your "spins" about how the Leafs have not gotten better by all accounts of the orginization under Burke. You wanted facts, i gave you facts, not my fault you dont believe them. They do say Great minds think alike, i guess one out of 2 aint bad, eh? Whats your excuse? Back on your wagon, dont forget the beer and wings for game one. My prediction, Vancouver in 6
:thumb:

Hey Iggy,

What a twisted spin.
