If he makes an insurance claim for trashed TVs and new furniture she purchased, it's insurance fraud, although it would probably never get that far as they will ask FN for purchase receipts etc. for those items she purchased, and he does not have them.no need to call your lawyer as literally she won’t come back, and she won’t be able to pay. call police to report and your insurance company instead.
If she is reported as a missing person, or turns up dead, he may get a visit from the police whether he calls them or not. There is a paper trail leading back to him. Assuming the Montreal police actually investigates missing person reports, certainly a cop assigned to the file will want to ask her landlord when he last saw her, etc. For those reasons as well as terminating the lease, it's wise to have an attorney at one's side. Will she come back? Who knows, but if she does, she will have a leasehold interest in the property if it has not been terminated. Maybe she does not know third parties trashed the place?
One issue in terminating the lease is serving notice of the termination. In Connecticut, this is done by serving a notice to quit in hand or at last known address. Not sure of the law on that in Montreal. That part could be tricky.. The lease may specify a manner of termination and FN's attorney might not be able to follow it if they do not know where she is.
