Damn the media.
Hello all,
Waiting for the Super Bowl is such a pain. To make it worse, the media has to create illusions or exploit any molecular aspect of a detail that could lead to greater profits. Yes, I understand some of you simply hate the Patriots, are Giants fans, resent spygate, or just love to root for underdogs. But the perception that the Patriots are some arrogant team waiting for annointment is the media's fault. The Patriots have been manic about avoiding trash talk. Any semblance of arrogance is a product of their superior talent and game play not anything the Patriots have done to disrespect their opponents. Maybe their "one-game-at-a-time" manifesto seems impossible when they say they are not looking any further than tomorrow. Maybe given their achievements this year the average fan can't help but think the Patriots seem to expect to win it all. That perception cannot be avoided when a team is so successful. Don't all teams expect to win anyway. But if you hate them because they seem to be as arrogant as the "Greatest Show On Turf" (St. Louis 2001) your hate is msiplaced. Their motto is "just do you job". That shows how business-like they are and how hard they work. After all, they did not go to Mexico with their girlfriends or impy "playing dirty" is part of the game and implicitly should be used without guilt and still maintain honor. The Patriots work extremely hard. Even Tom Brady said years ago, everything I thought it would be like changed when I found how much work I did and wanted to put into the game.
So don't blame the Patriots when the media creates perceptual illusions to promote profits. The media create the themes that best help them profit, and concocting illusions with misrepresentations and falsehoods is how they often do it. Frankly, I am sick of many of the things they have done and said and I just want to get to the game.
Go Patriots,
Korbel
