[QUOTE=Patron;1100171Tel Aviv? No history. No charm."

Yes..... but some of the hottest looking women on the planet. Especially the ones in uniform carrying assault rifles.

Beav you are correct except that no President, till Trump, has recognized and signed that act of Congress.

Trump recognizing Jerusalem as Israel`s capital was insanity.
No benefits except to please right wing Jews and Evangelical Christians who love him anyway.
The downside is all but destroying the chance for peace and setting back US relations with moderate Muslim states like Turkey and Jordan for years.
Is he trying to start a war of biblical proportions to distract from his Russian problems ?
Another sign of his insanity.

First of all Turkey is not "moderate Muslim" anymore. Second Turkey should give back Istanbul to Europe so they can once again rename it Constantinople and make it the shining light of European Christendom and the Eastern Roman Empire. Until he does that Erdogen should shut his trap.

Make Istanbul Constantinople again!

Besides that it focuses attention away from his son and the ongoing Russian fiasco.

Yeah, because MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, the New York Times and the Washington Post are tired of the incessant speculating and conjecturing about the Russian story.

Whatever you think, the world is accusing Trump's behavior.
The thing that can be said reliably is that he is misidentified in fact, that his ignorance is first disclosed on Twitter, dropping USA's dignity.
USA is definitely making enemies. it can not fight in two places, both NK and the Middle East.

According to Jerusalem issue, the yen appreciated, the Nikkei average dropped more than 500 yen. record worst in this year.
My assets also dropped by 500,000 yen on that day alone:rant:.

I believe Christians living in Istanbul have slowly but surely felt unwelcome. Historically it's been a very tolerant city. Christians lived there in great numbers and were prosperous under the Sultans. Ataturk was a modernist who created a secular Turkish republic. Erdogan is another political huckster who peddles religion to gain political favor with traditional Muslims. The Christian population of Turkey has declined under Erdogan's rule.

I am always amazed how intelligent liberals in the Western world decry any influence of religion on state affairs in their own countries, but take no issue with Muslim majorities suppressing the rights and even persecuting religious minorities in their countries. Moral relativism is devoid of any moral anchoring. As Mitt Romney said in 2012, "Culture does matter".

Relating this back to the issue of the Jews versus the Palestinians, we sometimes forget Muslims and Christians live in Israel and actually serve in the Knesset (legislature). Looking around how Christians are being treated throughout the rest of the Middle East, do you think these Israeli Christians would choose to live under a Muslim majority? We can pursue peace in the region, but let's not lie to ourselves in fear and pretend that Muslim majority rule in many Middle East countries is somehow morally relative to our Western values.

Their Caliphate is gone but not their physical presence in a half dozen countries or more importantly their ideology that is present across the world in computers and the minds of fanatics.
Stamping that out is a far greater challenge than bombing their presence in Iraq and Syria into ruble.

Precisely Cloudy. Territory may have been re-captured but the ideology is very far from being stamped out.

Of course, the ideology isn't wiped out. However for many reasons related to ISIS, terrorism spiked in Europe and elsewhere with the rise of ISIS. As been said before, the ISIS Caliphate and rise of the movement gave potential jihadis hope in their cause. They are more willing to die for a cause on the rise rather than one that's being destroyed.

I'm not an Obama hater, but ISIS came to be and thrived while he was in office. He was always tepid about fighting ISIS

jalimon,
Again, I'm not an Obama hater, but ISIS came into being under his Presidency and had something to do with his quick withdrawal from Iraq. (Hey, the Bush Administration shares a lot the blame for breaking up the Iraqi army after conquering the country. Now you had unemployed, trained Sunni soldiers roaming a country now dominated by Shias.)

In my opinion, it took way too long to destroy ISIS. When you read about the rules of engagement under the Obama Administration, I think saying the fight with ISIS was tepid is being generous. He avoided this fight too long and hoped it would just fade away. Remember "the JV team" comment.

Trump is an unusual politician. He's not diplomatic. Not even close. If the European Union leaders have issues, he sees no problem calling out there denial. He's brash and hyperbolic at times, but he doesn't mince words. He didn't come up through the political system in the typical manner of kissing ass and sucking up to donors and political elders. Many people find it refreshing. Many hate it. The 30% or so who were still basking in their love for Obama are furious and sometimes in tears that many of Obama's policies could be unwound just like that.

When it comes to Trump, it's just best to focus on the issues and what his Administration is trying to do. We can agree or disagree on policies, but on that level there can be clarity.

What about that a completely redneck state went democrat for the first time since what 40 years? Truly means there is just enough women and black who went to vote to balance things out for a narrow win against a racist and homophobic guy. Should we be happy or downright scared it was so close?

Cheers,

Are some of you that far removed from the American news?

Trump endorsed Moore's opponent in the primary run-off. Unfortunately, that candidate had his own baggage in Alabama. With the help and impeccable timing of the Washington Post, Roy Moore was accused just after the primary run-off by several women of propositioning them in their teens when he was in his thirties. One made claims that he touched her when she was underage.

I'm sure if you watch CNN or MSNBC, they are trying to convince viewers that it was a referendum on Trump. Republicans are actually breathing a sigh of relief as Moore was a goofy candidate that would cause more trouble than he was worth. His primary victory was due to the all too common oddity of too many candidates dividing up the vote in the first round.
